A verbal shootout erupted in the Senate on Tuesday over a bill that would make concealed- handgun permits issued by other states worthless to Coloradans. Some Republicans blasted the measure as an infringement on the personal freedoms of law- abiding citizens.
But the Senate on voice vote initially approved Senate Bill 34 after stripping a GOP amendment aimed at gutting the controversial gun bill.

Yeah, because a well-armed militia is a bad idea. /sarc
I really fail to see how it is any different than any other "full faith..." reciprocity issue, i.e. drivers license, marriage license, etc.
Guess that's why I'm a pee-on, not pee-er.
Drivers license reciprocity is apparently covered by state-by-state legislation---
Yeah, but there are state boards of cosmotology, nursing, medicine, etc; and state bar associations.
I've never seen a state board of concealed weapons.
What I had in mind, is not for residents, or even new residents, but for the traveler. One reason I won't set foot in NYC, among other places: I drive, and will not abandon my carry rights elsewhere simply to pass through their jurisdiction.
Funny I do the same. I will not even enter NY, NJ, MA, CA, IL for sure. I am not FREE there. Why go to a slave state. Not ME!!!
I may be mistaken, but I think y'all are overlooking the wording of this bill; it only says that the holder of a concealed weapons license must be resident of the state issuing the permit.
I *think* it's intended to outlaw non-resident CCW permits;
but it's still not a good idea.
What else can you expect from a state where so many Easterners have moved in?
As I was saying...
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Sure don't want any of that inadequate oversight like they have in, say, Vermont...
--I assume for this to pass, there must be similar legislation in the lower house of the legislature?
I hear, Amen,,,
I have had to make several trips to CA alone, and I always take my gun with me anyway. I would rather take the chance that I might get busted by cops, because they are not going to kill me but a criminal might. Being a woman traveling alone, I would hope a cop would go easier on me. If not, I would go to court and not to the cemetery. It's up to me to see that I'm not raped and murdered. My gun is my insurance poicy!
They want the revenue for the home state. I'm in IL, and have a permit issued by another state (PA). The wording would shut folks in that situation down.
Oversight? FLA has been in the shall issue bus. a long time. Pretty arrogant--but then again, look where I'm living--the land of the fanny-pack empty gun commandos.
I take it that this just affects Colorado residents. That sucks! It looks like Non-Colorado residents are OK under the bill though. My Va permit isn't good there, but I can still use my FL permit.
You forgot the peoples rebublic of MD. :)
