Yes. I may be a 'sobering experience.'

One in which the kids just might be more inclined to join up when they see and talk to the real heroes of this country.

True.
I also think it would be great if they did do volunteer work at a VA hospital, just so the experience would enrich their lives and make them into better rounded, mature individuals.

I told her that in my post and also that I would be horrified if my child said they wanted to be a journalist.
