I believe it was made by someone just prior to CPAC in March 2007.

But that's just it. The reason you are baffled is because Rudy is baffled. He can't stay true to his beliefs because he's hiding who he really is by putting an R behind his name.

He just isn't a Republican. That's why his message, etc. is so mixed up and baffling- he simply doesn't know who HE is. Honestly, he would do much better being a Dem than a Republican. If he's the only one who can beat Hillary, then have him do it as a Dem. THEN let the country choose between him as a Dem and an honest to goodness Republican.

“This war ends when they stop coming here to kill us!” Giuliani said in his speech. “Never, ever again will this country ever be on defense waiting for [terrorists] to attack us if I have anything to say about it. And make no mistake, the Democrats want to put us back on defense!”

I'm not voting for Rudy, but I sure do agree with what he said in that speech.

Where does the poll say that a majority of socially conservative Democrats who know Rudy’s positions on social issues have indicated that they will vote for him? It doesn’t, does it? I didn’t think so.

Rudy can’t carry Ohio, West Virginia, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and several other states that President Bush carried in 2000 and 2004, and he would not add Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin or Minnesota to the GOP column either. *Maybe* Giuliani can carry New Jersey, Oregon and Washington State, but that won’t nearly be enough to make up for his losses in socially conservative states.

Keep it up gang...we'll lose '08 too. Let's divide the party and we'll have 8 more years of Clintons. I have no idea how that's a good thing but apparently it's what you all are fighting for.

BTW I hope all the Repubs who "showed them " and stayed home caught the Dems calling Sec'y Rice to testify again. You guys must be thrilled. you really shoed them.

Have you forgotten Reagan used to be pro-choice as well back in the 1960’s? Give Rudy a little time to come around...

It seems that if the entire FR community (or at least most) got behind Duncan Hunter, he'd have a chance. It would be a huge boost to his campaign if we all got behind him. So far, I think he best represents me. At least what I've read on his site: www.gohunter08.com/inner.asp?z=4.

Besides, the "he doesn't have a chance", are their other reasons to not support Hunter? Does he have some shady history that I do not know about?

Remember the Republican party started out as a long shot. The Republican party was started to end slavery and at a time when slavery was very popular. Well, today abortion is popular, but I believe if we keep speaking out we'll eventually convince people of how truly cruel and horrible abortion is. Today you'd have a hard time finding a Democrat who favors slavery, however, at one time people in that party were willing to die to keep that "right".

My point is this, if the candidate is right for our country, let's stop worrying about his or her chances of winning and let's help them become popular. We can speak out, talk to our families, friends and communities, and can change the public opinion. (We are the public). We just need to be louder and more persistent than big media. Look, moveon.org is a pretty out their crazy group, yet they are loud. They have been extremely successful at speaking their minds and people respect that. Now it's our turn. We need to speak our minds with conviction, and not worry about what others think. Go spread the word! We need a good man (or woman) in office, and at this point, it looks like Duncan Hunter is that man.

Ah, yes, another "the only way we'll beat a liberal is by being liberal" seminar poster.

Tell me - if you were an NFL coach, of say, the New York / New Jersey Giants, and you were facing the Detroit Lions, would you try to beat them by emulating the Lions? You know, maybe tap Matt Millen's phone line to pick up his brilliant strategems? Or would you try to beat them by playing to your strengths?

Have we all forgotten Reagans 11th Commandment?

Are you referring to the same Reagan that was so disgusted with Gerald Ford's liberalism that he became the only modern Republican to challenge an incumbent Republican president for the presidential nomination?

Ronald Reagan's edict of not speaking ill about other Republicans DID NOT MEAN that he didn't believe in challenging their records.

Bump for Duncan Hunter!

For those of you who don’t know, his son Sam also posts here at Free Republic as “Duncan Hunter Ambassador”.

I’m hoping the Duncan Hunter ping list would be notified that this thread is now in Breaking News.

OK. Now stop it. This is an outright lie. If you've been around FR for half a year in the Rudywar threads, then you know the answer to this:

RONALD REAGAN WAS NEVER PRO-CHOICE. Yes, he signed a rather liberal for the time abortion bill into law, instead of vetoing it, because he was lead to believe that it would cut DOWN the number of abortions. He was mislead by his advisers, and soon after, he said that this was one of the biggest mistakes in his gubernatorial career.

And when you start making those kind of outright lies about RWR, it's time to call in the head of the household.....

If that information had been posted before, why wasn’t it on this thread? Because the rudybots stayed away from it and generated crickets rather than defend their candidate.

As for it being in “breaking news”...well...only if FR is looking to be behind the times, as this clip is very old news. :-)
***Yes, this clip is older now, but it never got the proper exposure it should have gotten, so I’m happy to see it going through a Phoenix stage. If the clip is so old news, why not show us where the rudybots have commented on all those video snips?

Flashbunny was kind enough to write up a transcript of the video and put it on his home page, so I started posting the transcript alongside the video link for those people who have slow connections and might even be afraid of a virus download from Youtube or whatnot.

As I continued to post the transcript, a few people posted to thank me for doing so because the information has been so enlightening.

Now we see that there is this online petition spreading around the internet, and this one example has had 100 social conservatives from Iowa sign it. And yes, parts of it do appear to be a cut & paste from the video transcript that flashbunny posted and that I have been using. So at this very moment, it appears that HUNDREDS OF SOCIAL CONSERVATIVES ARE SIGNING PETITIONS that contain cut&paste material from the stuff I’ve been posting. All because the rudybots didn’t want to respond with substance.

More than 100 Iowans sign Online Peition:

Conservatives:

Rudy Giuliani is an unacceptable Republican nominee for President of the United States. He is pro-abortion, pro-partial birth abortion, pro-registration of handguns, and pro-homosexual rights. He is the most liberal Republican candidate for President in our nation’s history.

Conservatives should leave no doubt that we will not support his candidacy under any circumstances. Therefore, we have created the Conservative Declaration of Independence to publicly state our position regarding the Republican Party’s consideration of a liberal as our Presidential nominee.

Please email theconservativedeclaration@hotmail.com to add your name to the list of signers.
