The Mexican government has no centralized database to coordinate the issuance of Matricula Consular ID cards. As a result, one person can procure several cards, even under different names.”
Therefore, if it is a policy of banks to accept accounts and credit with an anonymous identity, then why should hard working citizens whom for their whole life have tried to maintain a good credit rating, and who are often penalized on their trw for making a late payments of amounts of as small as $10, why would there be any incentive for a citizen to keep an account using their name, when banks will offer an account under an anonymous name?
An anonymous account carries the advantage of no penalty should ones credit rating go bad, one could simply obtain a new Matricula Consular card and open a new account. In fact that’s what illegal immigrants are doing now, so what stops the rest of US citizens from doing the same?
This acceptance of the Matricula Consular card needs to be stopped, but if that is the way the game is going to be played, by a majority of these banks then why not everyone get one under any frivolous name they desire, if after all its “legal”?

One way to help make illegal immigration more unattractive would be to restrict the flow of money back to the home country.
There are any number of anti-money laundering laws, “know your customer” banking laws, and Patriot Act customer identification laws that are already on the books. These laws could be used to restrict the flow of money since illegals don’t have valid social security numbers or for the most part legal drivers licenses.
If you cut off the flow of funds, you defeat one of the major reasons for illegally entering the U.S.
Good to know I won't have to change banks.
