Your arrogance ranks right up there ...

Orders to junior officers were always to give me whatever I wanted. That is understandable...

In the Army. You wouldn't have qualified as a mess cook in the Navy.

Given his fascination with one or two certain topics and the obsessive compulsive refrences to waste in most of his posts, he probably summarily dismissed the Navy as an option when he learned 'working on the poop deck' did not mean what he thought it did.

The one on the left had an arrow pointing towards the left side and said "Pass with Caution". The one on the right had an arrow pointing towards the right and said "Predestined Presbyterians".

LOL. Braggarts, every one. 8~)

I agree there were a whole host of things that contributed to the loss in 2006 -- I just don't think Ann's perceived attacks on 9/11 widows did us any good.

As I recall, Ann's criticism of Cleland and her book implying the Democratic Party was filled with "traitors" pertained to criticism of their political behavior -- not personal insults. (Personally, I don't like the word "traitor" unless it applies to someone that is literally a traitor, but I understand that type of rhetoric happens in political discourse.)

In the past, when controversy about Ann came up, I just dismissed it as Ann being Ann. Yeah, she has a sharp tongue but, so what? In my eyes, she finally "jumped the shark", for lack of a better phrase, with the Jersey Girls stuff. (And perhaps there are other things she's said that were just as harsh that I never noticed because they didn't get that kind of press.)

The bottom line is, there are those who will defend Coulter as an asset to the conservative movement, no matter what. And there are those of us who are starting to see her as a liability. I can't change your opinion about her and you aren't going to change mine. More importantly, Ann isn't going to change no matter what anyone says. In that sense, it is a wasted argument. But I do think it is important for conservatives who object to Ann's words to go on record, so we aren't all painted with her brush. And I'm afraid that is tough spot many of our candidates are now in. They have to distance themselves from Ann's words, without alienating her loyal fans.

I appreciate your perspective. I also appreciate the fact that you, unlike some members of "The Coult," can engage in a civil discussion about Coulter's impact on conservatism without turning it into a battle in which criticism of Coulter makes you a RINO or troll or whatever.

Therein lies the problem. Her brain and mouth are connected. She knows the impact and it is quite calculated. At some point Ann went from advancing conservatism to advancing Ann with an indifference to the impact on conservatism.

Ann tells it like it is. Old testament prophets were hated for the same reason

Rather, statements like that give the godless cover when they attack the religious as being spiteful, selfrighteous and sneering.

What is your next post "How Jesus hates the wicked and how I learned to despise the filthy bastards with him?"

We have enough trouble in Christendom without a parade of clowns spouting nonsense.

Finally, if you check, the OT prophets were sometimes famous for their irony. However the TARGETS of their irony were not the godless Ammonites, Chaldeans, etc. The target of the scathing irony were the RELIGIOUS, those called by the name of Jehovah, who were so ensconced in their own "righteousness" and positions of favor with God that they ignored calls to humility, selflessness, love and caring for the downcast. They thought of themselves as "better" than the godless rather than "better off." Interesting thing about that is that when God DID finally show up in the flesh, His worst and most cutting words were for the self righteous religious. Of course, the righteous of the day showed him what was what and shut His stupid palaver about "love your enemies" and other such claptrap up. Imagine! Telling US that we are as bad as THEM!

I have little doubt that the reaction of some of the religious today would match that 1st century reaction if the posts of some "Christian" freepers is any indication.

I just don't think Ann's perceived attacks on 9/11 widows did us any good.

It did give the left something to talk about. But -- and this is why I defend Ann -- anybody who tries is going to make a mistake, and I'd rather see her throwing punches than nobody throwing punches, and in many cases she's the only one willing to do so.

The Jersey Girls needed to be smacked. What they did concerning the 9/11 Commission, testifying before Congress, and asking for more money was very, very wrong on many levels, and far worse than anything Ann did.

And I think as time passes, this will come to be understood and soley because of what Ann wrote.

Granted, I wish she phrased it differently, but if we demand perfection nothing happens.

Concerning Edwards, that was just a joke that flopped. If the left makes too big a thing about it it's going to backfire. I suspect it is already hurting Edwards, despite his claims he's using it as fundraiser. Lots of people saw this video for instrance, who would not have without the controversy.

Faulty logic - we lost because few besides Ann had the intestinal fortitude to stand up to the dem lies, to call them liars in public or to fight the dirty fight that was required.

They repeated the slander and lies over and over with nobody to call them on it. It does not take long for their lies to become firmly implanted in the feeble minds of the voting public.

The rat party knows how to lie cheat and steal elections and the "turn the other cheek, stay above the fray" gop does and says nothing to counter them. Ann could well refer to many in the gop as "faggots" (and no, I'm not PC) and not be far from the truth at least in terms of being limp wristed do-nothing whiners.

Yeah right -- that's why the GOP won in 2002 and 2004 --- but lost in 2006, right? Again, in '02 and '04 we responded to their attacks by exposing them. Recall the "Faces of the Left" ad put out by the RNC in '04. It didn't call anyone names -- it simply showed clips of what the left did and said and let their smears speak for themselves. You can "call people" on their slander without sinking to their level. Ann sunk to their level in '06 and we lost. People don't like it when public figures are mean. Tom Daschle had to run from Michael Moore in '04. And GOP candidates are going to have to run from Ann. (Actually, she might be helpful in the primary, but toxic in the general.)

I think you have it. The rats spent 2 years slamming and lying and few in the gop would stand up to them or call them liars. Add to that the nitwits who decided to teach the gop a "lesson" by not voting or voting for a rat. Unfortunately some polls do show some truths and even the legitimate polls show and showed during the election cycle that the "people" out there came to believe what the dems were saying about Bush and the gop. Did anyone out there with the position or resources to do it stand up to them like was done in 2002 and 2004? Very very few. In 04 there were plenty of people and groups who countered the lies like the swiftboat vets. It helped. Unfortunately even during that election there were plenty of "conservatives" who did not approve, don't be mean, don't talk back, don't say anything that might offend. That attitude is what lost 06. The dems knew in 06 that they could say and do anything they wanted; lie, pack ballot boxes, vote illegals and the gop would do and say nothing. Just keep up the "nice" and the rats will continue to slap and kick the gop and they will continue to win and those with your attitude will continue to lose.
