READ: Matthew 4:1-11
I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14
Ardent baseball fans will remember Kirby Puckett, who died suddenly in 2006. He had led the Minnesota Twins to championship victories in 1987 and 1991. Even though he was offered larger contracts by other teams, he stayed with the Twins for his entire career. When Puckett was diagnosed with glaucoma in 1996, his career ended abruptly.
During Pucketts induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2001, he recalled the difficulties he had faced when growing up. His passion to become a professional baseball player was subject to temptation many times. Drug dealers and gang members repeatedly invited him to join in their destructive lifestyle. But whenever temptation enticed him, Kirby remembered that he had a higher callingbaseball.
Though we are urged to "walk worthy of the calling with which [we] were called" (Eph. 4:1), we live in a world where we face distracting enticements. Maybe were offered a job that pays well but requires that we compromise biblical principles. Our calling is always to do Gods will.
When we are confronted with a temptation to stray from Gods way for our life, we must remember that we have a higher calling as servants of Jesus.
Thank you Rus for another great lesson from God's word.
BTW, is FR running slow for you or it just my computer?
same with me..Older n dirt on this end
NOW I have to feed mom the pets & run out for meal delivery's for senior family members .. I COOKED LAST NIGHT!
No, not you... It's FR.. I think the Libby trial verdict is doing it.
Well, I'm glad to see you, and this is a great one to revisit! I actually have next Tuesday's post all ready to go and could have traded with you if need be.
On another note, guess who got skunked AGAIN last night?! I swear, I need a sweet little toy poodle instead of such a great hunter! JUST when I had swept out the "Carpet Fresh" I'd sprinkled on the garage concrete floor a few days ago when this happened, here we go again! :(
Billie, Wow ready a WHOLE WEEK AHEAD?????!!!!???
But why doesn't that surprise me?
I am sorry to hear about your baby getting into a tangle with the striped visitor *YET AGAIN.
I am not sure you remember my story about Oliver's first couple nights here & his finding a skunk & was all over the house, runs, bed, sofa before I realizied what was going on
Oliver = All-Over remember?
It was late at night & my chemist friend whom I called didn't have an antidote so I went on line & used /modified the formula I found.
1/2 c baking soda
1/2 vinegar
1 T strong dish wash soap (like Dawn)
water to thin
wet down
work this mixture in well
leave on a few minutes.
Put mixture on cloth for facial area
rinse.
Repeat if necessary
Could use a scented cream rinse the last time
I wont use tomato juice. I am with you.. super mess & hard to rinse out..(and expensive)
the professional mixutures for scent removal I have found are VERY expensive & don't work any better than this (maybe not as good)
yes, I just heard that re: Libby.. he does have the appeal process, I guess.
After 24, I couldn't sleep so decided to trash my kitchen (Dolly's term for cook)...
Made 3 meals for my elderly family members (and Mom)
For today on plate: Chicken Parmesan/mashed potatoes/ broccoli/salad
for two other meals for later in week:
(1) vegetable soup & a couple pieces of Peace/walnut bread (from Great Harvest Bread co) and
(2) Macaroni & cheese/Tuscany vegetables/orange jello w/mandarin oranges.
They are usually very appreciative & as long as I am cooking for mom it isn't much work to cook for 3 more.
MMmmm Yummy... : )
Look what Jul is up to...

That darn odor permeates everything within what "seems-like-miles"!
The formula you listed was similar to the one we have, though ours called for hydrogen peroxide instead of vinegar. (don't know why - vinegar seems to make more sense, and it wouldn't discolor the hair) However, after all the times we've had to de-oderize Roscoe, my bubble bath works as good as anything, even though he's a bit humiliated to have to end up smelling so sweet!
The main problem we've had with the encounters is that every time except the first time, it's been too cold to take care of him outside.
Well, it doesn't happen all that often, but a couple of weeks ago, a really nice essay greeted me in private email, and I always feel like a kid in a candy store when I get these unexpected treats. A little like getting John's Two Cents each week, only it's always so much fun to play with other backgrounds and stuff.
WOW! What an enterprising couple you both are! That's Jul's? I believe I'd have to go with List A - more down-home, less la-t-da, but mostly less seafoody! :)
