If we would reform welfare benefits so that every able-bodied adult was being productive, there would suddenly be a labor force available that is, well ... legal. Just a thought.

As an aside: I think that is Barney Frank's district.

They send you to New Bedford, that famous whaling port,
And give you to some land sharks to board and fit you out...

"I hate to clue you in, but these people were doing productive work as are most of the 20 million you mentioned.

Do you advocate simply un-manning the borders so that people can come and go as they please? Maybe take customs and immigration out of airports?

I simply just can't understand what you don't understand about "illegal aliens". Most that I have known were very nice, hard-working folks. But they were still here because they snuck into the country illegally.

We could reform welfare requirements and make available a whole new set of employees to replace illegal aliens and everybody that benefits would be a legal resident (hopefully). The taxpayer would benefit from freed-up government benefits and the individuals would benefit by learning what it is to be a productive member of society.

There are people who hold advanced degrees that have been waiting years to immigrate to this country legally. They follow the rules and we make them wait. Instead, we import ignorance and poverty by allowing millions of illegal aliens make a living here in the place of the ignorant and lazy that we raise right here in this country. It makes no sense to me.

I remember when they owned the city in the early 70s. I wouldn't be surprised if they make the playoffs this season.

Once word filters out, that the Illegals aren't as secure here as they used to be, the tide will turn.

As we get more serious about enforcing our laws, less of them will come and more of them will leave.

Hopefully, the fines leveled against employers will get the desired effect.

arrested the company's owner and three managers

That's the important part, IMO.

Michael Bianco Inc. Isn't this the company that makes leather holsters for firearms?

I guess they don't as I see only luggage and handbags offered in their product line.

I agree with all that except I simply don't know how to get the welfare people to work.

"We should normalize their status...and get rid of the minimum wage at least for legal and (new)law abiding foreign workers."

I'll tell you what, you go sneak your ass into Mexico and we will see what happens to you. You will rot in the hell they call a jail.

Just like the millions of slaves who were doing productive work in the cotton fields.

I hate to clue you in, but these people were doing productive work as are most of the 20 million you mentioned.

Eliminating 20 million people who are doing productive work may not produce the results you had in mind.

Be careful what you wish for.

Deport the 20 million illegal alien lawbreakers and replace them with 20 million legal immigrants. Our economy won't miss a beat.

I wouldn't want to sneak into mexico. I'd rather tax the hell out of the illegals here right now to fund my social security rather then have illegals suck it all out along with all the other problems they cause by being illegal. I'd also make them pay a restitution tax to become legal workers if they weren't here legally to begin with.

Also by getting rid of the minimum wage then maybe the work they do here would not be worth it to them or if it is maybe we can compete with china labor and rebuild our manufacturing base.
