Mayans to 'purify' sacred site after Bush visit

Mayan leaders announced that priests will purify a sacred archaeological site to eliminate "bad spirits" after US President George W. Bush visits next week.

"That a person like (Bush), with the persecution of our migrant brothers in the United States, with the wars he has provoked, is going to walk in our sacred lands, is an offense for the Mayan people and their culture," Juan Tiney, the director of a national association of indigenous people and peasant farmers, said Thursday.

Bush's seven-day tour of Latin America includes a stopover beginning late Sunday in Guatemala. On Monday morning he is scheduled to visit the archaeological site Iximche on the high western plateau in a region of the Central American country populated mostly by Mayans.

Tiney said the "spirit guides of the Mayan community" decided it would be necessary to cleanse the sacred site of "bad spirits" after Bush's visit so that their ancestors could rest in peace. He also said the rites - which entail chanting and burning incense, herbs and candles - would prepare the site for the third summit of Latin American Indians March 26-30.

LOL. Poor W. Thinks he can buy friendship with the latinos. Look, they will hate us no matter what we do, therefore there is no need to pander to them on immigration (or anything else).

The only spirits this group of Mayans see are inside their skulls. These people really need to lay off the coke, and possibly open a science textbook.

The Mayan spirit guides are disturbed ~ they always have been ~ and they are useless. Look at what happened to the place when the weather got bad just over a thousand years ago ~ destroyed the place!

Now if we could just get all the Maya to go back home everything would be better Fur Shur.

Gee, at least President Bush didn't perform human sacrife like your ancestors did.

People in glass temples shouldn't throw stones.

By the way, if we were persecuting your brothers so much, what do they keep coming here?

Maybe they will perform a human sacrifice to complete the purification.

I know of a few liberals I can send down there for a little vacation.

I didn't know they were still around either. I hope they revise their calendar. It should end in five years.

To my way of thinking President Bush should discard the shoes he wore there.

However, if these nit-wits insist on 'purifying' the place, they should BURN it.

Perhaps we should purify the ground before Bush's visit .
A napalm strike should do nicely.

Idiots. Perhaps they would prefer a pro-terrorists leader visit their filthy graves.
