The real target of the "Flying Imams" lawsuit (ROP alert)
Minneapolis Star-Tribune ^ | 03/14/07 | Katherine Kersten

The "flying imams' " federal lawsuit, filed this week in Minneapolis, has made headlines around the country. The imams are demanding unspecified damages from US Airways and the Metropolitan Airports Commission, both with deep pockets. But their suit includes other defendants, as yet unnamed. These people, unaffiliated with the airline industry or government, are among the imams' most vulnerable targets.

Recall the November 2006 incident that gave rise to the suit. The imams engaged in a variety of suspicious behaviors while boarding a US Airways flight, according to the airport police report. Some prayed loudly in the gate area, spoke angrily about the United States and Saddam, switched seats and sat in the 9/11 hijackers' configuration, and unnecessarily requested seatbelt extenders that could be used as weapons, according to witness reports and US Airways spokeswoman Andrea Rader.

After extensive consultations, the pilot asked authorities to remove the imams for questioning, which they did, releasing them later that day.

"The pilot did what he had to do," passenger Rita Snelson of Maplewood told the Star Tribune. "I told the airline afterward, 'Thank you for watching over us.' "

The imams' lawsuit, however, asserts that US Airways and the MAC acted solely out of religious and ethnic discrimination. It includes 17 separate counts.

It also rehearses a catalogue of harms allegedly suffered by the imams, including fear, depression, mental pain and financial injury. They have not only endured exhaustion, humiliation and ridicule, but also have lost sleep and developed anxiety about flying.

Anyone who gives them one cent is contributing to terrorism.

I've kind of developed an anxiety about flying since,,,,9/11? It's obvious they either did this to get the reaction they got or they're testing our defenses or both. They shouldn't get a cent. They should be expelled from the U.S.A. for good measure.

Outrage of the Day
As we reported Monday, those six Islamic clerics who were removed from a US Airways flight at Minneapolis-St. Paul airport for suspicious behavior have launched a lawsuit against the airline, with help from the professional grievance mongers, CAIR.

But that in itself isn’t today’s outrage; the really disturbing part of this story is that CAIR plans to sue not only US Airways, but the passengers who witnessed and reported the imams’ behavior.

And CAIR is hunting for their names right now. The real target of the 6 imams’ ‘discrimination’ suit. (Hat tip: LGF readers.)

If these terrorists sue individuals I hope that the American public has the opportunity to contribute to their defense/countersuit fund.

I'm good for a monthly contribution...

GRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

The imams' attempt to bully ordinary passengers marks an alarming new front in the war on airline security. Average folks, "John Does" like you and me, initially observed and reported the imams' suspicious behavior on Nov. 20. Such people are our "first responders" against terrorism. But the imams' suit may frighten such individuals into silence, as they seek to avoid the nightmare of being labeled bigots and named as defendants.

Ha. This'll just piss Americans off. I'll gladly contribute to the "John Does" defence funds and I'll gladly remain alert for suspicious behavior while I fly. I don't care if they sue me for everything I've got.

Screw them.

I don't believe that this was a dry-run, I think they planned this entire event in the hope that they would be removed from the airplane. Then they can sue, then they can demand laws to protect Imams from saying/doing whatever they like...

Backdoor Sha'ria law.

Same thing with the Muslim taxi-drivers who won't take people carrying alcohol, same thing as the checkout workers that won't handle pork. They want to get punished for this absurds actions so they can demand protection under the law.

Backdoor Sha'ria law.

I have a leaky rubber raft we can use to drop them in shark infested waters where they can pray aloud to their hearts content.

Sure, lumping all Muslims together, internment, curtailment of rights, mass exportation.. all bad things. Worse is allowing them free association. Worse is having to encounter them in our day to day lives.

How we can allow this trash to remain in the country is a mystery to me. We must really hate ourselves and have national suicide in mind.

They want to get punished for this absurds actions so they can demand protection under the law.

They also want to stigmatize people who refuse them so that society-at-large will become cowed into submission, which will allow more freedom for suspicious activity in the future.
