Khalid Shaikh Mohammed has told a Guantanamo Bay hearing he was the brains behind al-Qa'ida's biggest bombings, writes Sally Neighbour
FROM the scowling mug shots splashed across the front pages of the world's newspapers, you wouldn't have picked him as an evil genius. Fat, unshaven and having a very bad hair day, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed looked more like an ageing drug pusher than the architect of the world's most audacious terrorist attack. But the images captured after Mohammed's detention in Pakistan in March 2003 belied the true nature of a man who was undoubtedly the world's most diabolical terrorist mastermind. In the words of the 9/11 Commission report: "No one exemplifies the model of the terrorist entrepreneur more clearly than Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, highly educated and equally comfortable in a government office or a terrorist safe house."

Just wondering if this Mohammed guy is sort of like the "man on the street" for the Taliban set; Any one of those Talibani types would admit to being the mastermind of 9-11 as well as the beheader of whatever American made the front pages. I'm not doubting this Mohammed dude is diabolical, but aren't they all (of the Taliban or Alqueda set)?
I really wish that our government would actually execute these scumbags. Unfortunately, with all the good food he's been eating at Club Gitmo he's probably more likely to die of obesity.
Did he have anything to say about Terry Nichols?
