DES MOINES - John Edwards is in Iowa today laying out an energy "very much at the aggressive end of the scale," he said during a stop at the Statehouse.

Edwards, the 2004 Democratic vice presidential nominee who's campaigning to be at the top of the ticket in 2008, is calling for a cap on greenhouse gas, world leadership on reversing climate change -- including offering to share new clean energy technology with developing nations, meeting the demand for more electricity through efficiency rather than production and creating a new energy economy by investing at least $10 billion in support of research and development, business start-ups and efficient automobile technology.

After meeting with the Iowa House Democratic caucus, Edwards headed to Nevada to tour BECON, the Iowa Energy Center Biomass Energy Facility in Nevada, and a speech on his plan to reverse global warming.

His ideas on energy have evolved since visiting BECON four years ago, he said.

"This is bolder. This is a very serious, aggressive effort to deal with climate change and transform our energy economy," he said.

Sorry.
I always get the two confused when it comes to Edwards.

"... meeting the demand for more electricity through efficiency rather than production ..."

I'm sure Edwards' 28,000sf new home in NC is the ultimate in efficient use of electricity. Anybody know if he even bothered to take energy efficiency into account -- as, for example, Bush did when building his Crawford home ?
