March 20, 2007 -- In a memorandum to the Secretary of State, President Bush has authorized arming of Serbia and its once partner, Montenegro.
According to the White House Press Release, President Bush has authorized "furnishing defense articles and defense services" to both, Montenegro and Serbia.
"Pursuant to the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, including section 503(a) of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended, and section 3(a)(1) of the Arms Export Control Act, as amended, I hereby find that the furnishing of defense articles and defense services to the Republic of Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia will strengthen the security of the United States and promote world peace," says the George Bush memo to the Secretary of State.
It is not clear whether "furnishing" implies sale of arms or a grant of arms to Serbia.
Addressing the Secretary of State, President George Bush further orders that "You are authorized and directed to transmit this determination to the Congress and to arrange for the publication of this determination in the Federal Register."
Both Iraq and Serbia have their share of Russo-Commie Hardware and Western gear.
The question is who'd win in a war, Serbia or Iraq? :)
A pustule called Kosova is in their midst.
Now, that's *VERY* interesting. Why'd they do that, on must wonder ? Perhaps the winds are changing for the Albanian scum.
A nice gesture. Probably much needed after Clinton, Albright, and Wesley Clark used their bombing campaign to do massive damage to Serbia's military and hand Kosovo over to the KLA.
Does anyone know how much military equipment do we provide muslim Bosnia that ends up being used against us Iraq?
Wow! Another reason to love our beloved President Bush!
Why'd they do that, on must wonder ?
One reason might be to keep us looking anywhere but Messico and the other trilateralist actions further south....
but hopefully the Serbs can and will make good use of whatever comes of this.
BS. Where...what provision of the Constitution authorizes this?
Could be that someone finally realized what a mistake it was to help out the KLA. I imagine the KLA is probably providing material assistance to various other muslim terrorists, or may be engaging in terrorism against the US directly. In either case, a strong Serbia helps reduce this problem. Too bad Clintoon couldn't have seen that one coming or done something about it.
I guess Bush didn't consult Clinton on this. Good thing.
Good question, but you stopped reading too soon......

I believe these are the Laws cited
This is a little off topic to the article, but does anybody know of a good book on the history of the Balkans, Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia, etc? I admit I'm almost completely ignorant on the subject and I'd like to read a non-biased history of the matter.
as a friend of mine put it "albania is a pimple on the asshole of the world". Kosovo is just the lastest eruption.
Very encouraging. By damned, first W grows a pair and fights back against Congress and now this, in two consecutive days. I'm cautiously happy.
"... a non-biased history of the matter."
When it comes to the Balkans, there's no such thing as "unbiased history" - EVERYBODY's got a grievance.
Wow! We're finally getting on the right side of that entire "wag the dog" "bombing campaign" fiasco that Clinton perpetrated on us. I felt so ashamed then with us being on the wrong side of that "civil war".
Yeah, I know. Can't hurt to ask, though. :-)
