Three Major Terror Busts in Iraq -- Iran, Syria Connections Exposed, Say U.S. Officials
ABC News ^ | 3-22-07 | Brian Ross

U.S. forces have arrested the two leaders of the network believed responsible for the brazen raid in Karbala by terrorists disguised as Americans, in which five U.S. soldiers were kidnapped and later killed in January, U.S. military officials said today.

In operations over the past several days in Basra and Hillah, coalition forces captured Qais Khazali, his brother Laith Khazali and several other members of the Khazali network, a splinter faction of the Mahdi army.

Senior U.S. military sources tell ABC News that hard evidence linking the Khazalis to the Karbala raid, including the ID cards of several of the dead American soldiers, was recovered at the scene.

The coalition also found evidence linking the men to Iran and to an arms smuggling operation that included the high impact Explosively Formed Projectiles, or EFPs, according to U.S. officials.

This whole affair has become a debacle and only a kool aid drinker would think otherwise. For the last three years the situation was allowed to rot until they decided to get to work.

All of the successes in this war are the consequence of the excellent leadership provided by President Bush.

The border's more important than the war crowd can take their lumps if they like for brining in democrats to fight the president in the Congress but I think Bush has done an excellent job.

You have to think like a Muzzi. Far worse than pork defilement is the saying in the Koran that damns a man who upon attacking a stronger neighbor brinks ruin on his village.

Just carpet bomb the city he comes from, and show him the videos. He will then know he is eternaly damned to hell. Then execute him.

Far worse for a Muslim than any creative pork product efforts.

I'm sure the UN will issue another "sanction"

in the words of Jon Stewart of The Daily Show mocking the UN's response to NK's nuclear test:

"Uh-oh! Looks like it's time to debate holding a referendum on a missive..."

so you understand true warfare

why did you think being sensible would convince the politically-correct on f.r.?

these liberal plants know the words to 'kumbaya' but nothing about the nature of primitive cultures like the muzzies

Go get 'em, boys. Syrians and Iranians are training the terrorists in Iraq. Enough is enough.

My view is that we gave Iran too much room to operate in Iraq for too long because we thought we were close to a breakthrough on the Iranian nuclear weapons issue. We decided not to fight the Iranians too much in Iraq so as not to disrupt the negotations on the nuclear issue. But then Iran refused to give an inch to the US, Russia, and the EU on the nuclear negotations, so now we've given up on the non-confrontational approach and we're steadily destroying the Iranian terrorist-support network in Iraq. If not for the larger Iranian nuclear issue, we would have hammered those guys a long time ago. Iran is now in almost complete diplomatic isolation from the rest of the world.

I am thinking a liquified pork enema with a firehose might be appropriate punishment for them...

What?!? We'd risk making Rosie O'Donnell upset!! Do you want that on your conscience??

"...We'd risk making Rosie O'Donnell upset..."

Why? The guy wouldn't actually BE Rosie O'Donnell after the firehose liquified pork enema, he would only LOOK like her and have a composition like her.

Her uniqueness would be quite safe.

This must one reason why House Democrats have gone into overdrive to pass a "Pull Out Now" bill. Can't let it come out that Iran and Syria are behind most of the "civil war" in Iraq.

We should send them to Gitmo, not to "tour" but as inmates.

If I were Tony Blair, Imanutjob would be spending the weekend in a British Jail - see later thread on Iran's kidnap of 15 British troops. I would intercept his jet, force it to land in Britain so we could hold "one on one" discussions of the matter.

im sick and tired of the suggestions by the libs that al qaeda is led and supported by ONE camel jockey with a cane, a donkey, and a camel in the hills of afghasnistan who also just happens to have hundreds of millions of dollars. HE IS STATE FUNDED supported, protected, etc. how naive can we be? the islamofascists have successfully reduced us to morons in the hills of afghanistan looking for said camel jockey. what a pr disaster.
