A WEALTH OF BACKGROUND AND DOCUMENTS AT HILLCAP.ORG

(video) BRIAN ROSS: "Senator Clinton would not even say if she recalled meeting Peter Paul"

WATCH THE SHORT VIDEO CLIP

In 2001, Brian Ross did a 20/20 show about the Hollywood Gala Salute to President Willam Jefferson Clinton. Unfortunately, he only did part of the story.

Mark Halperin, in charge of the political unit at ABC News, was only several talk shows last year hyping his new book, THE WAY TO WIN: Taking the White House in 2008

Finally, Halperin admitted what we have known for many years --- the MSM is biased toward the libs and Dems. ADMITTING BIAS

Here an enlightening memo from Halperin to his ABC colleagues:
Halperin Memo Dated Friday October 8, 2004
It goes without saying that the stakes are getting very high for the country and the campaigns - and our responsibilities become quite grave.
I do not want to set off (sp?) and endless colloquy that none of us have time for today - nor do I want to stifle one. Please respond if you feel you can advance the discussion.
The New York Times (Nagourney/Stevenson) and Howard Fineman on the web both make the same point today: the current Bush attacks on Kerry involve distortions and taking things out of context in a way that goes beyond what Kerry has done.
Kerry distorts, takes out of context, and mistakes all the time, but these are not central to his efforts to win.
We have a responsibility to hold both sides accountable to the public interest, but that doesn’t mean we reflexively and artificially hold both sides “equally” accountable when the facts don’t warrant that.
I’m sure many of you have this week felt the stepped up Bush efforts to complain about our coverage. This is all part of their efforts to get away with as much as possible with the stepped up, renewed efforts to win the election by destroying Senator Kerry at least partly through distortions.
It’s up to Kerry to defend himself, of course. But as one of the few news organizations with the skill and strength to help voters evaluate what the candidates are saying to serve the public interest. Now is the time for all of us to step up and do that right.
--- end of memo ---

Halperin's father works for George Soros at the Open Society Policy Center, the policy arm of his Open Society Institute.

After hearing Halperin on the talk shows claim he was going to try to do better, I made several calls and sent emails to challenge him.

===================================================================

Here is his reponse to the challenge.

My apologies. Your messages to my DC voicemail were not received until this weekend, because I don't check it that often from New York. And i saw no first email. This is a long undercovered story generally. I'm getting my unit and the investigative unit on it, and will be in touch. Thanks very much.

Mark:
Four calls not returned and here is the second email. If you were serious with Michael Medved about unbiased news, this deserves to be reported before the election. We both know you would report this if it involved a Republican.

A few days ago, a letter was delivered to Hillary's senate office on behalf of Peter Paul. We have the delivery on video. The letter demanded $1,060,000 be returned to him as an illegal campaign contribution. That is not newsworthy? Were you just kidding Medved when you made your claims?

Thanks, Mark. Is there a better contact number for you? We will share extensive documents and home video with you. Comments from "Spider Man" Stan Lee should be interesting. He told me he was shocked when I informed him that he was listed in January as a 225K donor in the fourth amended FEC report. Now that he has been informed, he has the responsibility to correct the record.

This case is headed for court and will proceed once the Appellate Court decides whether to bring back Hillary as a defendant. People gave different accounts under oath during the David Rosen criminal trial. Someone committed perjury. That is going to be exposed.

AND FINALLY, ANOTHER FRIENDLY REMINDER WITH A TIMELINE AND EXTENSIVE LINKS TO MAKE HIS JOB EASIER. I also called and sent info to Brian Ross and his producer Anna Schecter.

Subject: the Clinton story you promised to do

Hi, Mark,
We spoke last year about the Hillary Clinton campaign finance fraud that continues to this day ---- 4 false FEC reports, $721K not declared, an FEC fine, and a failure to ever name the real donor.

======================================================================================

I guess it seems obvious that all Halperin wanted to do on talk radio was sell his book and pretend he had contrition. Things have not changed. The reporting is still biased, and he simply has no interest in doing reporting that can damage Hillary.

Peter Paul spent well over $1.6 million on Hillary's 2000 senate campaign because of Bill Clinton's promise to come aboard Stan Lee Media as a rainmaker for one year. It was the largest contribution from an individual in history. The Clintons repaid him by destroying his company.

What did Hillary mean with "We will remember it always" Three days after the gala, she had her lying weasel spokesman Howard Wolfson disavow her largest donor and pretend they barely knew him. And in an action so Clintonesque, behind the scenes they were asking for more money.

Amazingly, in her declaration of 4-7-06, Hillary acts as if she barely knew Peter Paul and claimed she couldn't remember anything they might have said. Besides her comments at Spago about not using email because it could become evidence, Paul has video of her going on and on about how Stan Lee was a genius for hiring Paul. She is really excited about Paul's idea of a cartoon character of Al Gore, and she wants to talk to Tony Coehlo and Terry McAuliffe about it. Sure, Hillary, you were really jazzed but you can't remember anything. Her failure to remember is simply a lie. Peter's home videos and other testimony will expose her lies in court in Paul v Clinton. Los Angeles Superior Court will be a fun place to be later this year. I'll be reporting from the scene.

From her declaration, this is incredible. "I remember attending a fundraising event on the evening of August 12, 2000 at the home of Mr. Ken Roberts in Los Angeles, California, and a brunch the next day at the home of Ms. Barbara Streisand and Mr. James Brolin. I remember Mr. Paul attending the August 12th event but have no memory of him at the second event."

Oh, isn't that nice. She remembers that Peter attended the event. Actually, he greeted her and kissed her (ewwwwww) at the pre-gal event, sat a few seats from her for hours at the concert, spent time with her at the post-gala event, and spent some time with her at dinner. She also thanked him from the stage. Yeah, she remembers that he attended.

A 1/2 hour documentary will be out in a few weeks. The civil case Paul v Clinton comes to Los Angeles Superior Court this year. Discovery and depositions will be so much fun.

I got to hear a few segments of Hugh Hewitt's interview of Halperin. It was difficult to listen to. Halperin jigged and jogged all over the place .. but basically I felt as though Hewitt just allowed the idiot to hang himself. I was not impressed with Halperin's statements .. nor did I believe him when he tried again and again to say he and his news group were not biased.

He told me by email and phone that he would do the story. He even had the field producer call me. I followed up with both Brian Ross and his producer. Nothing came of it.
