No, it was just part of the psych games they were playing with the blokes, to break them down.

Well, that pretty much blows Rosie’s conspiracy theory out of the water.

Well .. she did say to watch tv/media outside of the US to get the story

I thought I’d offer a word of apology to Peter on some of these accusations of cowardice. I’m just glad our UK friends are home safe and sound. And we should remember how these young people were treated by Iran - forever.

On your apology.

Thank you for your empathy on this Easter Sunday. I had refrained from posting anything on this subject for my own mental health. I twisted and writhed at what was presented. This by the drive by media, I use the El Rushbo's description for the British Press. Brought up as I was, to remember the British prisoners of the Japanese. I indeed met two of them post war.

I am impressed with your tag line. The only thing that I do hope for and indeed bring our American friends into this is one thing.

Revenge is a dish best served cold

If no revenge, there is no justice.

The little snipe was in on that hostage taking many years ago. He is getting away with crimes and the UN has not got the guts to even say so.

"what happened to the Brits (great people) will happen to us!"

Already has;

1. USS Cole

2. Failure to kill Mullah Omar because a Pentagon lawyer got cold feet.

The cookie pushing apparatchiks in our governments will cause the death of a lot of us before we collectively get rid of (I mean get RID of) them.

Were they sailors or Royal Marines? I can’t imagine a female making her way through Royal Marine training nor do I suspect that Royal Marines folded up like those people on Iranian T.V. did.

perhaps adopting some of the islamic rule wouldn’t be such a bad idea- we could imprison the TV newscasters without trial, then have a public execution- we’ll see how long the news media would be traitors to their countries after that

Yeah. Before the TV show, the Iranians probably thought the Brits were out Sturgeon fishing.

Well...
That is fascinating.

Is there any way of identifying the three professionals among the 12 fools?
I think they should get both all our attention and our gratitude.

There are a few fine patriotic British lads in that wide shot—men who still have pride and strength.

This woman’s experience is just another good reason women have no place anywhere near a combat situation.

I agree with your comment on women in combat. It is demoralizing to those who have to cope with it. Hopefully we might be spared jokes about some sexual liaisons etc. Some places where certain people just should not be.

My view of my own working class people in England, is that nine times out of ten, easy and quick money from the press, will prove their undoing.

Wait for the sleezebag press to stalk some of the beneficiaries. Oh yes, stories of problems and fair weather friends. How will they settle down normally?- that will be the biggest challenge of all.

Orders should have been given to absolutely refuse to communicate with the press. That may have salvaged a tiny bit of pride.

Thank you so much for posting those pictures. They really need to be out there and widely circulated. Perhaps even worth their own thread. Those young men on the right should be given promotions.

Thanks for posting these pics. They say a lot.

It is easy for armchair quarterbacks to criticize behavior. It is easy for people to say that I would have done differently.

Regardless, I have thought about this quite a bit and here are my thoughts. I am untrained and as fearful of pain and death as most people. I want to come home to my family like most people. I have no idea how I'd act if under duress of captivity and interrogation.

But still, I have arrived at the conclusion that there is no way in Hell that I would provide a televised spectacle for my captors that would humiliate my country and my compatriots in such a fabricated scenario.

Sure, I want to live and I don't like pain. But I would realize that under the circumstances, while the Iranians might have me as their captives, I would have them as my captives too, in a sense. Whatever they do to me will be seen by the world and will cause judgment.

I am quite certain that I would have refused to be televised laughing and eating and apologizing for an offense I did not commit. I would have made certain, if I were forced to appear on camera, that I was under duress and would have clammed up. What are they going to do, buttstroke me or kill me with the whole world watching?

I would have held firm or communicated clearly that this is not me, this is a sham. I would have. I am not impressed with the cooperation of many of the hostages. I would have done better, and I say that with certainty. I would have communicated to the world that I was being paraded on camera by Nutjob and I was not happy about it. And yes, I do have a lot to lose by not cooperating. So does Nutjob. Game, set, match. Go ahead, kill me. You'll burn in the court of world opinion. This is too obvious.

And may God bless the Royal Marines who were left out of the picture.

Why not just put retired U.S. Navy personnel in yatchs and arm them with 12 gauge?

The Brits were captured because cowardly men choose to do nothing...here's the HMS Cornwall firepower ...

Armament: 4.5 inch (114 mm) Mark 8 naval gun Goalkeeper (CIWS) close-in weapons system Sea Wolf anti-missile system Two Quad Harpoon missile launchers Two 20 mm Close range guns Two Triple anti-submarine torpedo tubes NATO Seagnat Decoy Launchers Two Magazine launched anti submarine torpedo tubes

Weapons mean nothing if you lack the will to use them. Admiral Nelson is rolling in his grave.
