Four large bombs exploded in mostly Shiite areas of Baghdad on Wednesday, killing at least 157 people and wounding scores as violence climbed toward levels seen before the U.S.-Iraqi campaign to pacify the capital began two months ago.
In the deadliest of the attacks, a parked car bomb detonated in a crowd of workers at the Sadriyah market in central Baghdad, killing at least 112 people and wounding 115, said Raad Muhsin, an official at Al-Kindi Hospital where the victims were taken.
A police official confirmed the toll, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information.
Among the dead were several construction workers who had been rebuilding the mostly Shiite marketplace after a bombing destroyed many shops and killed 137 people there in February, the police official said.
“Stay the course.” (squint) “We’re fighting for freedom.” (befuddled look) “We’re winning!”
Why arent the libs expressing concern for these folks.
So what’s your advice?
So you voted for Democrats? Yeah, lets just close our eyes, get out of Iraq and hope all turns out well. I don't know (or care) what your stance was on the 2003 war. But we are in this war right now, whether you like it or not... and don't delude yourself into thinking that leaving Iraq will make it any better for either Iraq or the USA.

Great.
(the first line of my previous reply is a typo-misquote... Just ignore it.)
Do you think perhaps the sole purpose of the people doing the bombing might just be to sap the will of Americans to support the operations of their military in Iraq?
Is it possible that some Americans would see this bombing and think “It’s hopeless. We’re losing.”
Might there be some people in this country who would play right into their hands?
Seems Hitman, dropped his bomb, hit and ran. I'm still waiting for pearls of wisdom... (sound of crickets chirping).
Libs are fakes, though and through. They give themselves away when they say they care about everybody’s feelings, yet never hold back when it comes to conservatives. They don’t care about their feelings!
Right now, my advice is to only be open to the possibility that Iraq might be a failure.
No, I voted for Dubya twice and my GOP candidates at the Federal and state level.
I have voted for my mayor, Oscar Goodman, who I think is a very good mayor. He is a dem.
OK, let's follow that. I won't bother disputing that for now but I'll say and...
I don;t think that's the sole purpose at all. I think they want to kill a lot of their own people who, in their minds, are collaborating with an invader.
No, that clearly isn't their 'sole' purpose, though I agree it is one purpose.
I doubt it. The casualties in these attacks are almost exclusively Iraqis, not Americans.
And the last thing those morons want is to have the American troops leave. Americans may lose their will to have U.S. military forces in Iraq, but the reality is that those same Americans really don't give a sh!t about Iraqis, either. Ironically, the presence of U.S. forces in Iraq is really the only thing that prevents us from carrying out the kind of military campaign that most Americans would probably find quite acceptable. There's a half-decent chance that the 2008 presidential election will be won by the candidate who promises to remove every U.S. soldier from Iraq and then proceed bomb Baghdad into oblivion from 30,000 feet every day for two years.
Problem solved -- the American way.
Just making a light & sensible breakfast.
...and do what? Quit and leave? Give the Terrorists a permanent base and Iran the remaining oil field of the Middle East?
Unless we are nuking each and everyone, which we won’t do for kingdom to come... there is no alternative but to fight on.
So beyond your declaration of failure there’s nothing else? Is there a better strategy? Do we just leave? Do we bomb the place? Is there something one might want to do about Iran? Anything? Help me out here. I’m sure you think you’re facing reality but like the Democrats you offer nothing.
...and keep an eye on the situation and adjust our evaluation as the war continues. I’m open to the possibility that Iraq is a disaster and we should pull out. We’re not there yet, but it’s a possibility.
Contrasted with too many Freepers who I don’t think could ever come to that conclusion, regardless of the facts.
That’s it? Pull out? And then what?
Of course you’re right, these bombings are calculated to get us out of Iraq and allow the bad guys to take over.
However, IMHO, we are NOT winning this war, and will never win it until we are willing to commit sufficient numbers of troops to the cause, and resolve to annihilate the enemy regardless of the political fallout. The problem is, to do so would entail enormous collateral damage to innocent Iraqis, and this is just politically unacceptable.
The administration has made it quite clear by their limited actions that they are not willing to pay this price. Waiting for the Iraqi army to take back the country will be a losing bet, I fear. And we have not shown the will to go after those states, such as Syria and Iran, that are actively supplying the enemy.
We’re stuck right now, and no one seems to be able to find a winning strategy. We can’t win, but we also can’t leave.
