Obviously they don't have any friends or other family members that can issue a statment. And I guess the creep's sister can't write any better than her brother so a statement from her is out of the question too. The silence from them on this whole thing is deafening. Sounds like it's all about THEM and their needs at this time. I guess their murdering son didn't fall too far from the tree after all.

Exactly right, mass. It's "cover our own ass" time! I'd love to hear from neighbors regarding Cho's life and upbringing in the neighborhood where he lived, since arriving here from South Korea at the age of eight. I bet you'd hear some pretty interesting stories.

as i am sure people have pointed out, this kid could have been expelled and charged and most likely stopped from buying a gun. IF the students who accused him would have pursued it. if only...

I find it interesting that last week everyone was complaining that Duke University was at fault for temporarily suspending three students indicted on rape and kidnapping charges, but this week many are blaming Virginia Tech for not expelling a student accused of (but not foramlly charged) with stalking.
What responsibility does a university have to its students, staff, and faculty and at what point should they intervene?

Virginia Tech is an example of Political Correctness run amok!

You got that right.

I was watching news coverage of the convocation, and they had FOUR religious leaders give the invocation: Muslim, Buddhist, Jewish, and Christian.

The blood of 33 people is on the hands of Virginia Tech due to their insane policy of Political Correctness in all things.

In a somewhat related matter, Fox News is reporting the killing of 4 people in Queens, NY, and yet Queens is NOT being locked down. When will we learn??? /sarc

I disagree. The blood of 32 is on the hands of the 33rd. Him alone.

It was more important to punish a conceal carry permit holder.

Folks, the kid was a fourth-year English major. Can you imagine how much anti-American, anti-business, anti-rich, anti-Republican, anti-capitalism crap he must have absorbed in almost 4 years of their liberal screed? Yes he was resentful, yet his parents were sending him to college – an expensive one at that - and he was living on campus.

Senseless violence follows a senseless education – especially an education that is long on anti-capitalist and anti-American indoctrination and short on discipline, math, science and life principles. So I believe a very shy man was driven into his fatal bias by an educational establishment more than willing to encourage his “rage against the man.”

What else has liberal educators to sell other than class warfare? They see redistribution as their sole club in equalizing financial outcomes. Young Cho bought the whole socialist mantra hook, line and sinker and it depressed him. He was nothing more than a product of his environment – an admittedly weak and gullible one. His teachers and then his sub-conscious worked against his better angels and drove him to the dark side.

You're comparing a crime-ridden NYC borough with a college campus? Get real! First of all, the double murder in the dormatory was a blatant cover-up by the VT administration in order to hide their flawed liberal, PC policies. All at the expense of the safety of on-campus students and faculty, and those who are traveling/arriving at said campus. So far, the best excuse VT administration and the campus rent-a-cops have come up with, is that they "assumed" the killer had left campus grounds. Why in the hell would they assume that?! VT administration is totally culpable in the slaughter of thirty professors and students @ Norris Hall.

Regarding your sarcastic remark about the killing of four people in Queens, don't you agree that the citizenry (in ANY neighborhood or area for that matter) have the right to be informed *if* the killer is at large? I for one would love to know, so I can, at least, lock my doors and have a firearm at the ready.

Insane isn’t it?

Total liberal madness.

All the safeguards to prevent this slaughterhouse got removed under liberal dominated culture.

Everything backwards from common sense gets forwarded.

The PC at VT was evidenced by the so called religion leaders:

The Muslim spoke the name of his god: Allah,
who is not the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac and Israel.

The Buddhist have no supreme being who created the universe.

The Jewish young ladies spoke of the flesh of Solomon, again no acknowledgment of Elohim nor YHvH.

The so called Christian chaplain did not know Jesus (Yah'shua).

Earlier on Fox News, I heard an interview with a VT chaplain ,
a catholic priest:
he did not evidence a personal relationship with the creator of the universe, either.

The Governor and W both demonstrated that they knew Jesus ( Yah'shua )

Virginia Tech is a cesspool of political correctness,
where any acknowledgment of YHvH is prohibited.

I don’t know if the neighborhood and the rest of Queens have been informed or not. I doubt it. The fact is, there is no effective way to lock down a college campus of that size. There is insufficient police staff, and, as it turns out, the killer was one of the ones who would have been locked down, so he would just have shot those in his own dorm, who, by the way, were not allowed to carry weapons to protect themselves. I am comparing Queens to VT in that a killer has committed murder and has not been found; there is no lock down, and in the case of Queens, no one is upset due to the lack of a lock down.

A review of the names of those that lost their lives suggests that not all of them were Christian. Liviu Librescu was Jewish, G. V. Loganathan and Minal Panchal may well have been Hindu, Reema Samaha was of Lebanese descent so she may have been Muslim. Certainly among the students, faculty and staff at the convocation there would have been followers of each of those faiths.

“Let CCW carry in class and nuts like this get their due when they go on a rampage like this.”

Of course, there is always that approach.

The university should have advised the young women to get a restraining order against the kid, that would have kept him from taking the same classes as the girls, kept him from getting the guns, and brought the law enforcement into the picture.

Good point although, I don't know the details of how to go about that.

I don’t know if the neighborhood and the rest of Queens have been informed or not. I doubt it.

The residents of Queens don't own radios and TV's?

The fact is, there is no effective way to lock down a college campus of that size. There is insufficient police staff, and, as it turns out, the killer was one of the ones who would have been locked down, so he would just have shot those in his own dorm, who, by the way, were not allowed to carry weapons to protect themselves.

I already know that VT is a "gun free zone". At the very least, university officials should've told the truth in the e-mail that was sent out to students and staff. In this day of cell phones and text messaging, the truth would've spread like wildfire, resulting in professors and students taking it upon themselves to lock-down their respective buildings on campus. Your excuse of "the killer was one of the ones who would have been locked down, so he would just have shot those in his own dorm" is a lame excuse.

For one thing, he didn't hang around the dorm (West Ambler Johnston Hall) where he committed the double murder long enough for the building to BE locked down. He walked back to his OWN dormitory on campus, and during the TWO HOUR lull of his murderous rampage, there was plenty of time to lock-down the remaining buildings on campus as the rent-a-cops and Blacksburg Police search for the killer. Well, that is if they hadn't "assumed" the killer left campus grounds. Either the VT administration AND the Blacksburg Police Dept. are extremely stupid, or this has COVER-UP written all over it.

I am comparing Queens to VT in that a killer has committed murder and has not been found; there is no lock down, and in the case of Queens, no one is upset due to the lack of a lock down.

Informing the public (or students and staff on a university campus) *IS* a lock-down! When you inform people that there's a killer on the loose, they'll take it upon themselves to lock/barricade doors and other means of protection. Of course, it's always a good idea to include instructions with said alert, such as "stay inside and lock all doors" for those who just don't understand the danger.

Restraining orders are simple to obtain, you just go down to the court house and file, they give you a date and you go in and tell the judge your story. The court will have already pulled police reports, etc. and the judge issues a ruling.
