“Britons pay $8.37!”
Thanks to the exchange rate, though, that is only 20 pence.
To put this in perspective, the average monthly salary in Russia is 11,000 rubles, or $426. To fill up the 32-gallon tank of a 2006 Hummer H2 in Moscow would cost $88 -- more than 20 percent of a Russian's take-home pay. taxes in the US would have to rise almost 10-fold to even come close to approaching what the average Euro pays for a liter of gasoline
There. Made the article a little more informative.
Well now there is a point. On average the average distance between people in Britain is 2.83 times less than the average distance between people in the USA. People in the USA pay 2.87, we pay 8.37: which is almost exactly 3 times as much - but we travel nearly 3 times less distance.
Seems fair enough - the price in Britain and the price in the USA are both what the market will bear in those countries. Of course the UK would be better off with less of a burden from the Govt: but I can see why the status quo is as it is.
Motorists around the world have been paying more for their gasoline
Who Gives a crap if Europe is paying more for gas???
That just shows you what they got for all their islamo-bootlicking...
NADA.
For heavens sake...the European costs are almost entirely taxes. Get rid of the government greed and you have solved the gas price ‘crisis’
Just another example of why its better to live here than in old Europe. Or new Europe. Or anywhere else, come to think of it.
You might want to rethink that - at least as far as Norway's concerned. If you start from Kristansand at the southern tip of Norway you can drive overland all the way to Vladivostok (give or take the odd problem with visa or two). Life is too short for me to work out the mileage, but that must be one of the longest continuous road journeys on the planet. Come to think of it, you could drive to Vladivostok from England, (unless you think putting your car on the shuttle for the 20 miles through the Channel Tunnel is cheating...)
Try measuring the distance from Kuparuk, Alaska to Fuerte Bulnes, Chile
