If you live in England or Norway, you ain’t got anywhere to go anyway, so who cares how much gas costs?
Well now there is a point. On average the average distance between people in Britain is 2.83 times less than the average distance between people in the USA. People in the USA pay 2.87, we pay 8.37: which is almost exactly 3 times as much - but we travel nearly 3 times less distance.
Seems fair enough - the price in Britain and the price in the USA are both what the market will bear in those countries. Of course the UK would be better off with less of a burden from the Govt: but I can see why the status quo is as it is.
You might want to rethink that - at least as far as Norway's concerned. If you start from Kristansand at the southern tip of Norway you can drive overland all the way to Vladivostok (give or take the odd problem with visa or two). Life is too short for me to work out the mileage, but that must be one of the longest continuous road journeys on the planet. Come to think of it, you could drive to Vladivostok from England, (unless you think putting your car on the shuttle for the 20 miles through the Channel Tunnel is cheating...)
