If its like most everything else done in Africa the plane probably hadnt had the oil changed in the last million miles.

It was actually a brand new Boeing 737-800, first flight was 09/10/2006.

Yes. I would fly Kenya any day. South African Air might be a little nicer, but both seem to be fine organizations.
