Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards said Tuesday that he worked for a hedge fund to learn more about financial markets and their relationship to poverty in the United States.
Edwards won't disclose how much he got paid as a consultant to Fortress Investment Group, but said he did keep the money.
"It was primarily to learn, but making money was a good thing, too," the 2004 vice presidential nominee said in an interview with The Associated Press.
.....
Edwards said it's legitimate to ask questions about whether there is a contradiction between campaigning against poverty while working for a hedge fund that is designed to make rich people richer. He said the job was a compliment [sic] to his position as the head of a poverty center at the University of North Carolina.

Oh, YEAH.... the Breck Girl strikes again...... anti-poverty demagogue John Edwards just had to take big bucks in a Demagogue slush fund maneuver from the same company that just happens to turn into his number one source of campaign contributions now...... and it was about “learning” about poverty in the USA!!!!
Good heavens, now every Demagogue has the ready-made excuse....... no matter what slush funds they are tapping into, they can say that they study and learn about big money so that they can better understand POVERTY!!!
Spare us the sanctimonious b.s., Breck Girl!
Que? He worked there to learn about markets yet was hired as a consultant?
What's revealing about this is just how ignorant and stupid Edwards must think his supporters are.
re: learning on the job
Yeah, if that hedge fund company weren’t run by incestuous Demagogues helping Edwards they might actually care that their high-priced “consultant” didn’t know squat about the business and was only brought on the payroll as a way to funnel money into his pockets while allowing him to “learn” about financial markets and “poverty” in the USA.
Could have taken a few economics courses, but he wouldn’t have gotten paid millions for those.
He also could have volunteered anonymously at a homeless shelter for a year to learn about poverty, but that’s what the other America does.

His ‘job’ sounds more like a way to get around campaign finance rules. I wonder if the money was paid to a limited partnership instead of to him directly.
I think he may be largely right.
With Dilbert it is hard to tell where comedy ends and reality starts. :)
LOL..
I'll buy that argument

Poverty crusader my foot!
What a pantload!
And Deval Patrick worked at AmeriQuest to study Redlining. Pay no attention to the $20M buyout.
Who works for a hedge fund to learn more about poverty and its relationship to the US? Edwards is a bad liar for a trial attorney. I wonder if he’s taken his father out to dinner at that expensive restaraunt yet?
