CHICO - Peace activist Cindy Sheehan is scheduled to give a talk at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Harlan Adams Theatre at Chico State University. Doors open at 6:30. Tickets can be picked up at the Chico Peace and Justice Center, Pommes Frites and Chico Natural Foods. Current ticket holders will get priority seating.
Sheehan was to have come to Chico this week, but because of a scheduling conflict, she had to cancel, said Sue Hilderbrand, director of the Chico Peace and Justice Center.
Hilderbrand said she hoped Sheehan will be able to make other appearances in Chico next week in addition to the talk in Harlan Adams Theatre. No other events have been scheduled yet, she said.
Sheehan became an internationally recognized anti-war activist after her son was killed while fighting in the Iraq War in 2004.
The following year, Sheehan, joined by supporters, set up a camp outside of President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas.
She vowed to remain there until Bush spoke with her. The president did not grant her an interview there, and after about four weeks, Sheehan left to tour the country, speaking out against the war. Her activism has continued.
Among the groups sponsoring Sheehan's visit to Chico are the Peace and Justice Center, Chico State's political science department, 1,000 Grandmothers, the Peace Institute, and the Chico State Democratic Club.

I’m in Nashville, so I can’t get there, either. We should be relentless with hounding this despicable cretin every time she takes a walk or draws a breath. In a different era, when business was taken care of properly, her treason would’ve drawn her a good, long prison sentence. The only thing worse is what she’s done to the memory of her fine son. How a mother could do that to her child, I cannot fathom.
Perhaps Cindy should ixnay on the Pommes Frites.
Cindy Sheehan has already met with George Bush and she changed her story once she joined up with the Hate America Left.
