Tammy Faye Bakker, the disgraced televangelist who is suffering from cancer, has penned a goodbye letter to her fans in which she says doctors have halted her treatment.
"The doctors have stopped trying to treat the cancer and so now it's up to God and my faith. And that's enough! But please continue to pray for the pain and sick stomach," Tammy Faye, 65, wrote in a letter on her Web site.
"My precious daughter, Tammy Sue, and her wonderful friends are staying with me," Tammy Faye wrote. "They don't want me falling down the stairs. I am down weight wise to 65 pounds, and look like a scarecrow. I need God's miracle to swallow."
In 1996 Tammy Faye was diagnosed with colon cancer. In 2004 she learned the cancer had returned, this time in her lungs.

I agree. It’s a terrible thing.
From what I’ve seen of Tammy Faye, she was a sweetheart. It’s a terrible shame she was labeled and held to that label the rest of her life.

One of the oddest "couples" over the past decade on the talk show circuit were Jm. J Bullock and Tammy Faye. I believe the former died of AIDS not too long ago.
The scandal was not her's... it was her former husband's.
It's unfortunate the drive-bys made her a mockery. But there is no doubt she'll have a special place in Heaven.

With her husband, TV charlatan Jim Bakker, Tammy Faye Bakker led the Praise the Lord Network (PTL). He was the first host of The 700 Club, and years later they co-hosted The PTL Club, where Tammy Faye became infamous for her smarmy, teary-eyed singing style, and especially for her troweling use of mascara. At their ministry’s peak, PTL became the first Christian organization to launch its own satellite, facilitating worldwide outreach 24 hours daily. The Bakkers’ income as professional Christians allowed them to own several lavish homes, and PTL even built a Christian theme park, before their ministry collapsed in scandal. As investigators closed in, the Bakkers signed their ministry over to Jerry Falwell, and Jim Bakker was convicted of fraud and sent to prison. While he was incarcerated, Tammy Faye divorced him. She is now married to Christian construction magnate Roe Messner, who made his fortune building churches. Messner was the lead contractor for the Bakkers’ theme park, Heritage USA, and his involvement in that project got Messner, like Bakker, convicted of fraud.
She was profiled in a 1999 documentary, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, which, along with a subsequent appearance on The Surreal Life, has significantly softened her public image, and she is now generally viewed more as a sweet, ditzy nut than as a charlatan. She still wears layers and layers of make-up, but seems utterly sincere as she proclaims her Christianity. She has also become known for her friendliness and openness with gays, and while she still maintains that homosexuality is a sin, she always adds that it is “no worse than any other sin”. She has also kidded her own odd image by judging Tammy Faye lookalike contests, wherein everyone wears way too much make-up.
Now prefering to be called Tammy Faye Messner or just plain Tammy Faye, she has suffered through and apparently beaten colon cancer and lung cancer, and is currently undergoing chemotherapy for cancer of the vertebra. Her autobiography is optimistically titled, I Will Survive... And You Will, Too.
Her tattooed punk preaching son isn’t so wonderful himself. He seems to have crafted his own religion under the guise of Christianity.
yes, he was... and i was never a fan... however, God seems to have truly turned his life around...
She is good example of life portrayed as farce and tragedy. She and her twisted husband politically damaged evangelical Christians with their shenanigans. The Christian right still labors under the charicature of the Bakers, Falwell, and Robertson. I don’t wish her ill but I won’t be grieving either.

Very sad to hear this. I’ve an uncle with cancer in the neck and tongue who cannot swallow either.
