The scandal of 'scandals'
Washington Times ^ | 5-10-07 | Thomas Sowell

Now that ABC News has the list of phone numbers given to them by the "Washington Madam," the question is: Whose names will they publicize if they find out there are public figures whose phone numbers are among those they have?

Let us suppose, for the sake of argument, the names include Karl Rove and Ted Kennedy. Are both names equally likely to be revealed? If only one name is revealed, do you have any serious doubt which the liberal media will reveal?

That is the problem with Washington scandals. In fact, the very definition of a "scandal" by the media differs radically, according to who is involved. That is a bigger scandal than any particular scandal the media report.

Before the Washington Madam surfaced, the big scandal in town was the Bush administration's firing of eight U.S. attorneys. But it was not a scandal, as far as the media were concerned, when Bill Clinton fired every single U.S. attorney in the country. Everybody knew then -- but all seem to have forgotten now -- that all U.S. attorneys serve at the pleasure of the president. He can fire any of them or all of them, at any time, for any reason or for no reason.

If the Madam happens to go missing soon, I suspect some former Arkansas politician’s name was about to become public.

Candidate Clinton has already said that she will clean house if she is again elected co-president. She has said that those beholden to George W. Bush will be removed from government.

She was proud of this proposed agenda.

The media colludes with the DNC on "scandals" to win elections.

The drive-by media came up empty in its search for conservative big fish in the list.

However, they still need to keep the list secret — if some of those small fish ever become big fish in the future, then the Rats will have useful blackmail material on them.

CNN was interviewing someone about this a week or so ago... I didn’t really pay much attention, but it was along the line of speculation as to who might be in those phone records... and the person being interviewed said, “....or course if it turns out to be any high-level people in the administration...”, then that info should be made public. So it seemed like only those for whom Bush could be blamed would be outed.... ?

“Candidate Clinton has already said that she will clean house if she is again elected co-president. She has said that those beholden to George W. Bush will be removed from government.”

LOTS of Clintonista wonks have been job parked in high-paying Civil Service and “Foundation”/527 positions for some time, now...

I’ve often wondered how Dems get by with this, and why the MSM DOES NOT CARE....

Or maybe his wife's?
