GOOGLE finds the report here:

http://pogoblog.typepad.com/pogo/files/DHS-IG-Northwest-327.pdf

The passengers and crew had good reason to act as they did, but there is no evidence it was a “dry run”, or a terrorism incident of an kind.

pp 31:

“Overall a key element when considering the response to this incident should be noted, which is that the 13 Syrian musicians were not terrorists and that the law enforcement assessments made by the FAMS and FBI on June 29, 2004 were appropriate. This is of particular importance when considering the involvement of the HSOC.”

Pretty sloppy copy editing on he part of the WP, IMO.

Thank you for that link.
I have not read the entire report minutely, but a quick review reveals that there are no recommendations aimed to deal with passengers who refuse to comply with the rules of flight that the rest of us are expected to observe.
This is bordering on criminal incompetence.
After all, Americans have a perfect right to feel apprehensive while flying, and the cause of that apprehension should not be allowed to abuse the "rights" of citizens and legitimate residents.

So they release a report on it in 2006, and internal FOIA documents say something entirely different. Someone is lying.

I happened to look on snopes was trying to find out more info and checked Snopes and it said false. i told them they needed to change the status and this is response i received

Those persons who actually read the referenced DHS report for themselves
(rather than relying on slanted secondary sources) would have noted the
following statement contained within:

“Overall, a key element when considering the response to this incident
should be noted, which is that the 13 Syrian musicians were not terrorists
and that the law enforcement assessments made by the FAMS and FBI on June
29, 2004 were appropriate.

The decision not to contact the HSOC was decided only after the FAMS and
FBI
leadership jointly determined that the subjects could be cleared. The
reported suspicious activity was determined to be unfounded, and not a
terrorist threat ...”

This article is about documents WT received by FORCING the Bush Administration to release them, through FOIA. They couldn’t be posted anywhere yet, unless WT did so.

“My respect for ABC News is dropping by the hour. After doing some extra searching, I discovered that the virulently anti-nuclear Project for Government Oversight or POGO, didn’t just serve as a source for interviews on the “Loose Nukes” series, it was actually hired as a consultant.” http://neinuclearnotes.blogspot.com/2005/10/abc-news-gets-dirty-with-carnegie-and.html

POGO appears to be a rabidly left-wing org trying to find fraud in govt. Do they look at welfare? NO. They seem to only want to get Big Oil and the Pentagon.
