Half the people in the heart of the city would be killed or badly hurt.
Many tens of thousands more would be exposed to radiation and later get cancer.
Downtown would be completely "obliterated."
These are just some of the chilling details in a soon-to-be-released report of the massive devastation terrorists would inflict if they detonated a Hiroshima-style bomb in a major American city like New York -

IF a terrorist group detonates a nuke in a US City, how do we know who to nuke in retaliation?

I have more news for them. The bomb doesnt even have to pass thru customs. All it needs is for a ship or small boat to sail into the harbor.
Checking cargo coming into the harbor wont even help if the cargo never comes to a pier.
About the only way tp prevent it is to discover the bomb 12 miles out.
New York, San Francisco, Charleston, New Orleans, Baltimore any harbor is vulnerable.
Light this thing off anywhere in one of these harbors and you have a lot of dead people.

Both Damascus and Teheran, as well as Mecca and Medina. As well as the area of Parkistan where alQaeda is ensconced. Leave no mountain standing. Then on to Palestinian lands. There would need to drop the neutron bomb.
To: Tarpon
Well I would have thought that even Democrats would know that bombs can kill people.
To: Bringbackthedraft
Well, at least some of our tactical stuff is “dial a yield”...
I wouldn’t be offended if we max’d the setting on one or more of them...

And to think: If Bill and his golden boy Assistant SecDef had simply accpeted custody of UBL when he was offered to us by Sudan, we wouldn’t be having this conversation...

Most cargoes are checked before they leave port of origin if they are coming to the USA. However, you main point is valid. We cannot stop Illegals or drugs being smuggled in, we cannot stop a bomb.
No defense is impenetrable. Or as Fredrick the Great said, “He who defends everywhere, defends nothing”.
