In an amusing article posted on Townhall.com, Amanda Carpenter details “liberal campaign follies you might have missed because you were watching [John Edwards’] “I Feel Pretty” YouTube [video] for the 100th time”:

† Barack Obama, who “traveled to Detroit, Michigan to chastise auto industry officials for not producing as many hybrid vehicles as he’d like” drives his family around in a “V8 Hemi-powered Chrysler 300C that gets about 25 miles per gallon."

† Hillary Clinton “supports burdensome campaign finance reform legislation” but she “forgot” to disclose her roles as treasurer and secretary her husband’s multi-million dollar charity, the Clinton Global Initiative on her Senate financial disclosure forms. “Among those who received grants from CGI was the Dana Blair Foundation. James Blair, husband to Dana Blair, was the one who helped Hillary earn $100,000 profit in a suspicious cattle future gamble thirty years ago.”

† Bill Richardson wants to have it both ways when it comes to his Hispanic roots (his mother is Mexican), telling the WaPo, “I’m not running as Hispanic candidate, but I’m trying to convince Hispanics that I am Hispanic, and they don’t know.” Carpenter also points out that Richardson “defended the embattled U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales because of his race [and] told the media: ‘The only reason I’m not [calling for Gonzales’s resignation] is because he’s Hispanic.’"

† John Edwards took a $55,000 fee from “the taxpayer-funded University of California Davis to deliver a speech.” His topic: “Poverty, the great moral issue facing America.”

To this history of hypocrisy, The Stiletto can add this litany of lies:

† Obama (AKA Barry Soetoro) lived as a Muslim during his childhood in Indonesia, according to Andy Martin, Executive Editor and publisher of ContrarianCommentary.com. Obama claims that he was never a “practicing Muslim.” The Los Angeles Times has corroborated Martin’s research. Like Richardson, Obama wants to have it both ways: He embraces his father’s race so that he can be the first black man to run for the U.S. presidency, but disavows his father’s religion so that he can avoid asking Americans to consider electing the first Muslim (or ex-Muslim or whatever) Commander-in-Chief post 9/11.

† Aside from Travelgate, Whitewater, Rose Law Firm billing records, cattle futures and the vast right-wing conspiracy out to get her husband, what else has Hillary lied about? Dick Morris and Eileen McGann point out that, “as recently as January 17^th, Hillary said ‘I'm not going to cut American troops' funding right now – they're in harm's way. … I am not for imposing a date – certain withdrawal date’" and that since mid-May “she has not only voted for a withdrawal date but has also voted to cut off funding for the troops if no such date is included in the legislation.” Here’s another doozy: On and off since 1994 she has claimed that in 1975, when she was 27 years old, she tried to join the Marines! The New York Times recounts the first time she told this tale to lunch on Capitol Hill honoring military women: “Hillary Rodham Clinton said that she once visited a recruiting office in Arkansas to inquire about joining … either the active forces or the reserves … but was swiftly rebuffed by the [21-year old] recruiter, who took a dim view of her age and her thick glasses. … ‘You're too old, you can't see and you're a woman,’ Mrs. Clinton said she was told, adding that the recruiter dismissed her by suggesting she try the Army.” No reporter has been able to corroborate her tale.

† Richardson has oft told a story about attending a memorial service three years ago for Lance Cpl. Aaron Austin, 21, who was killed in Iraq in April 2004, where the marine’s mother, De'on Miller, thanked him for the federal death benefits she had received. He says the conversation inspired him to ask the NM Legislature to pass a bill awarding death benefits for the state's National Guard; she says the conversation never took place. Richardson has also embellished his bio a teensy bit: He has claimed to have been the top foreign affairs aide to Hubert Humphrey while serving on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, but was just a subcommittee staffer; he also has claimed to have been drafted by the Kansas City Athletics in 1966, but when a New Mexico newspaper disproved the claim, he “came to the conclusion that I was not drafted by the A’s.”

† Edwards, who worked as an advisor by Fortress Investment Group from October 2005 until December 2006 claims he did not know the hedge fund was a major subprime lender, making high-interest home loans to buyers with poor credit histories. He also claims that he “worked for a hedge fund between presidential campaigns to learn about financial markets and their relationship to poverty” – lessons he would not have learned working for Fortress unless he was aware that the firm is a major player in the subprime market. By the way, Edwards has also received $167,460 in campaign contributions from Fortress employees and their families.

What a bunch of chumps.

I especially like Mr. Edwards taking 55 large to deliver a speech at a public university about poverty. I wouldn’t trust him with a three-minute egg.

Maybe he can eke out more out of it since his secret service detail can pack all his bags and stuff in their vehicles so he travels light.

That caught my eye too. 25 mpg for a V8 would be considered getting good mileage.
