Frankly, for a Republican to govern as well as Mitt did in a state that's 70% Democrat with a legislature that is 85% Democrat, is quite an accomplishment indeed and thus he is most deserving of such an award.
Romney is making inroads in an unlikely place.
One word——
Incoming! Everyone duck their heads!
Not unlikely at all.. Romney is surging all over the South:
Research 2000 Kansas GOP Primary:
Brownback - 18%
Romney - 17%
McCain - 13%
Giuliani - 13%
F Thompson - 7%
Gingrich - 6%
Tancredo - 2%
All others - 1% or less
This lineup is no match to the power of Mitt!
Nah, Romney’s better looking than Elvis. And he said one of his favorite singers is Roy Orbison.
I find that interesting, what’s Bush doing there?
I'm watching the others at this point, but my eye is on him.
He looks a lot more presidential than W!!
Read his great article that he wrote for Real Clear Politics; he understands the problems, and has a vision.
He is, much.
Research 2000 Kansas GOP Primary:
Yoo hoo, Go Mitt! But, uh, Isn't Kansas in the Midwest?
This article is about Tennessee.
Very interesting.
The fundraising for Gov. Romney in Tennessee has been exceptional too. According to one report, the Romney campaign has raised as much in TN as all the other Republican candidates and the Democrat candidates combined.
Interesting. More on that:
If there's one person you want on your side should you decide to seek the White House, it's Nashville commercial real estate developer Ted Welch. He is considered by many to be the single-best Republican fundraiser in the country.
"Some say the world," Welch joked. Or was he? Two men named Bush wouldn't argue with him. Neither would the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Or Lamar Alexander. Or Fred Thompson.
Problem is, Welch is betrothed to another.
"Back in January, I had no idea that Fred was even thinking about it," Welch said. "I went ahead and committed to (Massachusetts Gov.) Mitt Romney because I thought he was the best of the lot that had shown interest in running. It would be very inappropriate and very unfair for me to say to Mitt Romney, 'Hey, Fred Thompson decided to run and I'm gone. Bye.' I'm not going to do anything like that. I made a commitment, and I'm going to stick with it, so long as he is in the race. source
I am scratching my head on this. These guys are on the list are going to support Fred. What’s the deal?
Anyway, my heart wants Mitt to be President, but my mind says it will be Fred. Fred just has a lot of natural advantages.
They probably made the decision before there were real rumblings that Fred Thompson would join the race. Mr. Thompson always liked John McCain, and if John McCain were still doing well, Fred Thompson wouldn't be in the race. The rest of the Tennessee delegation likely isn't as enamored of John McCain and had started to support Governor Romney. Things took a turn, but they were already committed to this event.
I'm sure that everyone will be nice to each other. Even though they would like to elect a president from Tennessee, they won't want to do any serious damage to the Romney campaign. If Mr. Thompson's campaign doesn't generate interest in the real world as it has on Free Republic, they'll want to be on Mitt Romney's good side if he wins the nomination.
Bill
The TN-GOP seems to be owned by the Ted Welch from post #17. He apparently finances everyone’s campaigns there and gets to decide about all these things.
