I really like Fred. The only problem I have with him is that IICR, he voted against impeaching the Clintoon. Or it might have been against removing him from office. Good thing, though, or we would have had President Gore. Yikes!
He voted against one article, and I was bugged about it at the time. Not mentioned, but I know Fred was seriously troubled that the subject of impeachment was over penny ante charges that were the least of Clintoon’s crimes. He’d have much preferred to see a plethora of charges brought over ChinaGate, for starters. I think he was never more shocked in his life to see the level of criminality, and the lengths to which the rodents sought to cover it up (I’ve mentioned many times that when CNN went to the usually affable Fred to get a “feel-good” soundbyte on John Glenn’s long-overdue retirement from the Senate, Fred told them that they couldn’t play on tv exactly what he thought of that slimy little traitor). It was one of the reasons he got fed up with serving in the Senate after a relatively short 8 years (the final straw was his daughter’s untimely death). I couldn’t blame him for wanting to get out of there.
