Michaels is often slammed as a hired gun for the fossil fuel industry

Why is it that the "hired guns" of the greenie kooks aren't called so in a derogatory manner? Perhaps someone who really knows something about fossil fuels just might have the right perspective on this issue.

I know the answer, but it is frustrating.
