Is America ready for Iran?
World Net Daily ^ | June 11, 2007 | Craig R. Smith

Posted on 06/11/2007 2:49:02 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

According to Brian Ross and ABC news, NATO officials claim "they have caught Iran red-handed, shipping heavy arms, C4 explosives and advanced roadside bombs to the Taliban for use against NATO forces in what the officials say is a dramatic escalation of Iran's proxy war against the United States and Great Britain."

I suspect it is only a matter of time before the ever-predictable American media will suggest NATO is lying to get us into a war with Iran.

While daily evidence builds of Iran's support of terrorism, the world sits idly by and does nothing. Not even a harsh word to neutralize the inflammatory speeches of Ahmadinejad calling for the destruction of Israel. Not one peep about supplying lethal Explosively Formed Projectiles, or EFPs, to Iraqi insurgents to kill American and Coalition soldiers. Nothing as much as a breath about Iran's flagrant violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions demanding Iran immediately halt pursuit of nuclear weapons.

It is well known that Iran is the number one state sponsor of terrorism in the world today. Groups like Hezbollah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad would wither away without the continued supply of money and weapons Iran provides. Each day, new evidence clearly illustrates Iran's approval of terrorism as an acceptable response to perceived enemies. The delusions of Ahmadinejad that Allah has "chosen" him and Iran to rule the world under Sharia law grow stronger each day. Yet the world sits by and sucks its thumb for fear of the media.

We can thank the mainstream media and politically motivated Left for the Iran of today. Accusing the president, day after day, of lying is now going to pay off in spades for the terrorists. There are already challenges to this latest evidence of Iran's hand in terrorism. Iran is Shia. Afghanistan is predominantly Sunni. Shias hate Sunnis, so why would they supply weapons to their enemy? The report must be wrong the critics say. But is it? Is NATO lying? Can we afford not to hold Iran accountable?

Very different voices are speaking up. Richard Clarke, a former White House counterterrorism official and Bush critic said, "It is inconceivable that it is anyone other than the Iranian Government that is doing it," referring to the NATO comments. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates is sounding a more cautious note when he says the U.S does not have evidence "of the involvement of the Iranian government in support of the Taliban".

Talk about a change of roles. But keep in mind NATO officials have no doubt. Their words are clear, unambiguous and potent.

There is, despite what John Edwards thinks, a war on terror being fought. It can be traced back to the late '70s. We decided to engage, albeit late in my opinion, after Sept. 11. So, help me with something. If Iran is the number one state sponsor of terrorism, and evidence corroborates it is actively supplying weapons to terrorists and continuing to pursue nuclear weapons, then why do we allow leadership in Iran to exist? If we want to win the "war on terror," we would want to start with eliminating the number one sponsor of terrorism. Stopping Iran in a decisive way would send a signal to the terrorists that terrorism will not be tolerated by citizens of the world.

Now, before you flood my e-mail with all the nasty stuff you'd like to say, let me clarify. I am not calling on the United States to attack Iran. I am suggesting the United Nations, NATO and countries that have concluded Iran is a threat inform Iran, in clear terms, its actions are unacceptable. Then give Iran a certain amount of time to provide verifiable evidence that it is not sponsoring terrorists and will drop the pursuit of nukes, or there will be consequences. Then, after doing that about 16 or 17 times and having Iran defy the requests, America, like it always does, will come to the rescue and do the job. That is, if Israel doesn't beat us to the punch. Then the Israelis can be the bad guys for saving the world.

You know, the Israelis who have caused all this hatred with their "harsh occupation of Palestine". Of course, I don't understand how Sunnis killing Shias and Shias killing Sunnis in Iraq has anything to do with Israel. Or how Muslims bombing a nightclub full of Muslims in Bali has anything to do with the Israel/Palestine conflict. Can someone explain how Muslim-on-Muslim violence in the Philippines, Somalia, Kenya, Pakistan or Indonesia (just to name a few) is a result of the conflict in Israel? You can't! But I guess it is always a simple way to explain the troubles of the world. Blame it on the Jews. Not on the Arabs or Muslims. No, no. They are a peace loving people.

There is a showdown coming with Iran, as sure as the sun coming up in the East tomorrow. The only question will be: Does the world have the heart and strength to deal with it, or will the media and politicians be allowed to use it as an opportunity for ratings and votes?

Iran is not Hollywood. It is not dealing with fantasy. It is preparing to deliver reality. More killings and bombings are music to the ears of the sick leadership in Tehran. Ahmadinejad believes he is the man, and this is the time. History records one such man. People thought his insanity would stop him from any real damage. How wrong they were. Millions died as a result.

History will repeat itself if the world doesn't soon draw the line in the sand with Iran. It seems to have a way of doing that you know.

Hmmm....

Maybe the headline should read: IS IRAN READY FOR AMERICA?

Time will tell.

This might be the time to start getting some real border security going. I’m sure there are Iranian, Hamas, Hezzbollah and al Qaida cells already in our country, but why make it easy for them?

Easy. Where you find Islam, there too will be death, murder, oppression and destruction.

Its just the way it is.

Iran isn’t worth losing One U.S. military member.
Lob some nuke tipped cruises at desired targets and send a message not only to them but to any other country that cares to f with the big dog.

It would an interesting opportunity for experimentation:

1) Iraq: We decapitated the bad regime, moved in, tried to pacify the countryside, and began Nation Building. It's been hard. Some say it will never work. Some remain optimistic.

2) Iran: We could decapitate the bad regime, and then walk away. Would Iran then turn out to be more of a problem than Iraq? Or less? We could watch and find out.

Nuke them, then send all of the illegal immigrants to Iran to occupy the Country. Remember, they break into our Country to work, so lets give them all the work they can handle.

“We could decapitate the bad regime, and then walk away”

How do we “decapitate the bad regime”? I’m in favor of that.

Airstrikes against locations where certain regime individuals meet and against their residences and Government buildings. Also Secret Operations, targetted Assasiantions etc. etc.

Israel’s targetted assasinations of Palestinian terror leaders is a good example how you can decapitate an enemy without deploying ground forces.

However this all needs excellent intelligence and spy networks. I fear our intelligence agencies have a shortage of this.

Well, Iran is not as dumb as many believe. The road to economic prosperity in today’s world is to start a war with the United States and then lose. The winner will then cough up zillions of dollars to rebuild your war-torn country at the expense of American sucker taxpayers. (It’s called “involuntary servitude.” or in the vulgar vernacular, slavery.)

Sure, you bet...Since 1979...

Why do people think we’ve stuck 3 aircraft carriers, and boucoup amounts of Amphibious Units in the area???

To have tea???

Anyone still believe the story about them being in total support of operation “Iraqi Freedom”???

Well...I got some land in southern Louisiana I wanna sell ya...Good price!!! I’ll even throw in the crawdad’s fer free...

I know, I am such a stinker! Couldn’t resist...

For a fairly knowledgable opinion...

If we did jump off on Iran...It’d be over so fast, the breaking news folks would only be able to do a BDA...

“I’m here live Jim, at the site of the “former” residence of the President of Iran, Iminapajamabob...As you can see Jim, its a smokin’ hole, back to you Jim!”

The US lost its political will to do anything with the election of Pelosi and company and the subsequent defection of a group of white flag Republicans. Israel has the will and the imperative to stop Iran’s nuclear program but lacks the means short of a nuclear strike. Iran will continue to grow as the de facto leader of the Muslim world and will gain a supreme position with its successful testing of a nuclear weapon. When the US pulls out of Iraq, Iran will quickly fill the poser vacuum and likely control the country through their satrap Al Sadr. Iran will dominate the Middle East for the rest of this century.

Perhaps... However, a century is a long time for us longevity challenged human beings. 1918-1939 was barely a blip chronologically speaking. WWII is often described as WWI phase II.

1948-Israel is born. In 1967 Israel achieves a lopsided victory over her enemies and then spends the next 40 years parceling away land for security nostrums of ever-increasing fantastical assumptions that fly in the face of logic and reason.

I tend to think Iran is pushing a confrontation with Israel that Israel will have to address, and will have to address with the full capacity of its defense force.

The Israelis are humanists first, Zionists second, and Jews third. That equation will change when all Jews recognise the existential threat is becoming an existential reality.

Only then will the Jews re-unite as Jews first, and stand against the threat to Israel’s existence that Iran is intent on making.

The Jews will win this war and every war to follow. They just are not yet sufficiently alarmed to act in their own defense.
