Fuhgeddabout John Gotti and gangsters. Think about George Bush and his mob. That was the advice of the Dapper Don's widow after she visited his crypt yesterday on the fifth anniversary of his death.
Speaking hours before the nation learned what happened to Tony Soprano, Victoria Gotti Sr. said America is too fascinated with organized crime figures. "It's disgusting that everybody is still obsessed with Gotti and the mob," said the 64-year-old family matriarch. "They should worry about that mob in Washington. Those are the guys that got 3,000 deaths on their hands. The government is obsessed [with Iraq] and I think it's a shame. Worry about that mob you've got in Washington."
Gotti, dressed entirely in black and carrying a Chanel bag, was speaking about the 3,504 American soldiers who have died in Iraq.
"Ask [President] Bush and [Vice President Dick] Cheney if they have anyone on the front lines. That's what I'd like to know," she said. "Every time I watch the news and hear of another death, my stomach turns over," she added. "I think it's horrible. We could debate all day about the war. I think it's disgusting. Now he's going to start with Russia."
John Gotti died on June 10, 2002, of neck and throat cancer at the federal prison hospital in Springfield, Mo. He is buried on the third floor of an ornate mausoleum at St. John's Cemetery in Middle Village, Queens.
