The decision comes amid a bevy of media stories scrutinizing his past, including three bankruptcies, a short stint in jail and 1996 Federal Trade Commission charges of false advertising in a prior business.
Employees of the identity theft-prevention firm were notified Monday of Maynard's resignation. LifeLock officials said Maynard wanted to spend more time with his family and the constant barrage of media inquiries "had become a major addition to his already heavy work load, as well as a distraction for the company."

Did you see at the bottom of the article, someone used his SSN to get a $500 loan at some payday type place in DFW? LOL!

I saw that too (see post #7) and started LOL. That is just too funny. But, how did the user also get his wife’s cell phone number? That is the interesting part. The rest is just funny.

LifeLock blames the victim (the loan operation) for not actually running the SSN. If they had, they presumably would have seen the fraud alert in the credit report.

So this loan place is stupid enough to give you a loan with an SSN and a phone number and no credit check? Good move. I guess they are trying to save money. I wonder if they will change their system. If not, they could get cleaned out in no time.

Kim Zetter isn’t much of a reporter if he/she/it can’t find and publish the name of the payday loan company. We all should have the opportunity to go there and get cash with a phony SS number.

Actually Nope. The guy who gave his SS # out is the current CEO of the company, not this guy that resigned. Different people.

Maybe its just me, but Lifelock seems to be on an add blitz the last couple weeks. I swear I heard Laura Ingraham doing a spot the other day.

Biltmore Venture officials told The Business Journal earlier this month that the latest round of funding would go toward beefing up advertising efforts.Oh, thats why.
To: K4Harty
Yes, that was part of his advertisement. Up until now I was planning in subscribing to Life Lock but now that’s on hold.
To: Right Wing Assault
Don’t those places charge huge interest? A science teacher once told our class that fish are near sighted and they see the hook but they also see the work. I think this loan place is more interested in the high interest worm.

There are plenty of credit watch companies. I’m sure a few FReepers could recommend a good one. I don’t kow of any. Possibly Consumer Reports rated some?
