The Palestinians haven't learned to govern themselves, because they have been continually been protected from suffering the consequences of their actions.

They are no more capable of self discipline than spoiled children, however when dealing with spoiled children the lives of thousands if not millions of people usually don't hang in the balance.

It is time for both Israel and the rest of the world to show the Palestinian people as a whole some tough love.

It's a sort of grim, toxic study in how much damage a deliberately inflicted culture of hatred can do to a people. It isn't, obviously, a nation under any description of the term.

Will Hamas succeed in forming an Islamist state modeled after Afghanistan? Personally I find it a little unlikely, but whatever it does manage to do is equally unlikely to be either stable or peaceful. Were I an Israeli I'd be pretty glad that they didn't let the internationalists talk them into tearing down the wall - it looks like they're going to need it.

I think we are going to find in short order, that Hamas will also be taking control of Gaza, with the help of their Iranian benefactors.

Why we ever decided to ship arms and money to that cesspool is beyond me. It would have been better spent helping Israel prepare for the war to come.
