Washington, D.C. – The U.S. House of Representatives this morning voted to withhold federal emergency services funding for "sanctuary cities" that protect illegal immigrants.

Anti-immmigration champion Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., sponsored the measure, which he says would apply to cities such as Denver and Boulder. He was elated by its passage, which stunned critics and supporters alike.

It might just be House Tradition or something like that.

The Senate is chock-full of archaic rules and customs, because it’s supposedly a Country Club Board of Directors.

the Senate was to be more deliberative

Not really. That's just a conceit that senators have adopted for themselves. The Senate was designed to represent the interests of the State governments vis-a-vis the federal government. Since direct election began, the Senate actually has no particular reason for being, or defined role other than limited "advice and consent" and ratification-type actions.

This vote is particularly amazing when you consider that a lot of these represenatives are from districts that include these sanctuary cities. I’m sure a lot of them voted with their home cities, and the bill still passed handily.

If his White House effort stumbles, “Speaker Tancredo” could have a nice ring to it.

Cart before horse, sure, but a win is a win. We’re not tearing down the goalposts yet.

I hope so. The House killed the last try at amnesty.

It looks like the Senate has been bought and paid for.

I’ve been saying lately that Mexico has two presidents. The President of Mexico, and Mexico’s President. If you get my meaning

Or, as the Chinese communists used to say about BillyBoy, "Our man in Washington."

One of the GOP traitors, Reichert, is the Congressman from Microsoft’s district.

He’s a regular within local GOP circles, and ran as a real law-and-order Republican (former County Sheriff, bagged Gary Ridgway, etc.).

Something about power and corruption?

“Anti-immmigration champion Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo.,”

Ugh...why does disagreeing with a flood of illegals mean you are anti-immigration?

Tancredo is sincere but this is a trick from the others.

Some common cause between (some of) the DUmmies and the FReepers.

Well, yeah, but not in the sense of the far Left meeting the far Right.

It's just that this bill is so truly bad for everyone that all political activists who have any regard for the country should oppose it absolutely.

Of course, the Left is weak, given that they're the proletariat to their party's Stalinist leadership. It's conservative talk radio and forums that are raining fire down on the smoking switchboards at the Capitol.

I couldn’t find the official name or number of the bill. Do you know what it is?

Sadly, El Presidente would never sign it if it were to make it through the Senate to his desk.
