I don’t care if they were Kardassians, Klingons, or Romulans if they were at an AQ training site that got hit and they are dead - GOOD!

I agree. Just being in an al Qaeda training camp is enough for me to approve of their being transferred to another training camp in the hereafter.

It’s a good day whenever a Taliban camp becomes a crater...

Uzbeks and Chechens are the hand-picked guards of Bin Laden and al-Zawahiri.

There two differing sects of Uzbeks (and to a lesser extent Chechens) operating in the Pak border region -

One group is loyal to AQ/UBL/Taliban (IMU - Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan )....The other is not as much. This group is the Islamic Jihad Group (IJG) -

The latter group is the one which has been targeted by the Taliban / Pak Gov't over the last several months....(mainly because they believe in regime change for Pakistan first...before worrying about the infidels (NATO) in Stan and elsewhere....

Where as the leader of the IMU sits on Mujahideen Shura Council and remains extremely loyal to AQ/UBL.

I was in Afghanistan when news hit us of a terrorist attack on a school by Chechans. It was in a place called Beslan and none of us could believe that anyone could stoop so low. When the horror of what happened became evident to us and the callous savagery directed against children we all decided we wanted to kill a Chechen before we left. As it happens, we got two.

The IMU (Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan) is led by a thug/commander named Tahir Yuldashev - They are very closely aligned to the big guys who run the Pak border regions - (namely Faqir Mohammad.....who is the leader of theMovement for the Enforcement of Islamic Laws throughout the Pak border regions (and Stan).

Faqir Mohmammad is basically the "Pak Taliban" leader - He has openly supported Zawahiri in this region (and likely UBL). He has sent thousands of his fighters into Stan -

The Islamic Jihad Group (IJG) is a splinter group ...which has broken off from the IMU (Tahir Yuldashev) - This happened in 03'ish time frame.... the IJG believes in fighting the "near" enemy first (meaning the Pak Gov't, which they believe should be overthrown). The Taliban were supporters of theirs early on (as well as the IMU).

However, due to agreements and pressures (from differing sources...but even from local Pak border region Pastuns)....the Taliban turned against the IJG....

This has been the group of Uzbeks/Chechens that have been targeted (killed) in the Pak border regions. They are bad guys and seeing them die isn't all that bad.....But they are not the sect we are actually going after (first and foremost).

In fact, trying to find one of these young, charismatic, Uzbeks (with huge balls preferably) to help provide us with HUMINT would be a most excellent idea....

Depends on where the Intel came for this hit - If it came from a Pak source.....could be either (but much more likely IJG).

If it came through our own internal channels....it is likely IMU (whom we've hit very successfully a number of times over the past several years in Pak).

My gut tells me we hit someone we're after......Which is a very good thing....
