Aussie hired by state GOP embroiled in immigration lawsuit
The San Francisco Chronicle ^ | Sunday, June 24, 2007 | Carla Marinucci and Lance Williams, Chronicle Staff Writers

Posted on 06/24/2007 11:00:16 AM PDT by Reeses

Michael Kamburowski, the Australian immigrant hired as a top official in the California Republican Party, was ordered deported in 2001, jailed three years later for visa violations -- and has filed a $5 million wrongful arrest lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, according to U.S. District Court documents.

Kamburowski was named in March to be the chief operating officer of the California GOP. He is responsible for the state party's multimillion-dollar budget and oversees campaign funds and financing for the nation's largest state GOP organization.

As the state GOP's new operating officer, the 35-year-old Kamburowski was handpicked for the post by state Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring, who became party chief in February.

...

Kamburowski's current resume -- which states his objective is "to play a major role in the reshaping of the California Republican Party into a hyper-effective political organization'' -- shows no employment from 2000-2006. Sources said that during at least some of those years he called himself an aspiring actor, and occasionally worked in desk clerk jobs before he eventually tried his hand at selling real estate in New York and the Dominican Republic, which he left in February.

It looks like a bad hire. Thanks SF Chronicle for doing the background check that the California GOP should have done.

From www.flashreport.org:

Today's Commentary: Is our COO suing America?

by Jon Fleischman - Publisher

There is a major story in the San Francisco Chronicle that alleges that Michael Kamburowksi, the Chief Operating Officer of the California Republican Party, has had a storied history with his immigration status (he is an Austrailian citizen here in the U.S. with his green card), it seemed like I should at least comment on this briefly. Especially since it is being alleged that he was at one point imprisoned, and is currently litigating against our own federal government.

As an elected officer of the State GOP (Vice Chairman, South), there are personnel issues that may be involved and so I will keep my comments brief this morning.

I have reached out to CRP Chairman Ron Nehring to ascertain what he knew about any of this. Since it was probably clear to at least Kamburowski that this article was coming out in the paper today, it is telling that the CRP Board was not given any heads up...

As Matt Drudge likes to say... DEVELOPING...

(P.S. I sure hope my follow up to this piece is that the Chronicle is 100% wrong about this...)

It doesn’t matter, he knew he was an innigrant and hired him over qualified US citizens end of story should be end of Nehring. Here is another worse screw up hiring an H1b over USC’s did he watch the Immigration Lawyers video to skirt the law? He should be long gone yesterday. No wonder the Senate doesn’t get it is has infiltrated the ranks-just doing the jobs Americans won’t do.

Web searches on Michael Kamburowski paint a picture of someone way in over their head.

This story brings to light how illegal immigrants can do an easy end run around the INS: get married to an American. This simple trick shuts down deportation instantly. And they can immediately go back to work.

I guess you don’t get it either, why is he & Mathews H1B visa working for the California GOP? You mean to tell me there are no qualified America Citizens available? I don’t buy it. What is his salary and the salary of Chrissie Mathews?

Ron must have took that course on how not to hire a citizen.

Ron Nehring, you are dumber than a coal bucket.

They’ll spin it by pointing to our immigrant governor. Article doesn’t say the status of his second wife. The first one, based on the short length of their marriage, he apparently used to get to stay here.

I do know of other instances where ICE has gone after aliens that have had short sham marriages, or have emotionally devastated US citizens by conning them into sham marriages the american victims thought were based on love, then leaving them when they thought the coast was clear.

states his objective is "to play a major role in the reshaping of the California Republican Party into a hyper-effective political organization"

I found this Michael Kamburowski line at RE/MAX Island Realty:

Having sharpened his skills in the hyper-competitive real estate market of Manhattan, Michael is ready to serve your investment and residential needs here in the relaxed, beautiful and enchanting Punta Cana. With his attention to detail, laid-back yet professional approach, and sense of humor, Michael will smoothen the road to your dream property in Punta Cana.

This laid-back hyper-salesman apparently didn't sell or lease out anything during his real estate career in Punta Cana.

What is going on at California GOP headquarters?

You may be on to something. The hiring boss Ron Nehring apparently supports the homosexual agenda. Did Michael Kamburowski get dumped by American wife number one after a year for sleeping with men?

It may be time to clean house at the California GOP headquarters. It's a good thing the SF Chronicle came out with their stories now instead of next year.

No, it was time to clean house at the CAGOP when they helped Arnold highjack the recall election.

More than a bad hire. As it makes no sense whatsoever, I have to think there is something very corrupt about his hiring. Bribery? Blackmail? Lover of someone in a high position?

Kamburowski's resigned. What's weird is the NYSun got the story hours before the SF Chronicle did. Could that be because Ron Nehring, the California party chair that keeps hiring out of country, is a NY carpet bagger? He's not married and he's supportive of the Log Cabin Republicans.

From sfgate: Former White House adviser Steve Schmidt, who ran the re-election campaign for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, angrily described the appointment of Kamburowski as "almost a parody of incompetence and malfeasance."
