Democrats bash court diversity ruling

Democratic presidential candidates stood united Thursday night against the Supreme Court and its historic ruling rolling back a half-century of school desegregation laws. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said the conservative court "turned the clock back" on history.

Sen. Barack Obama, the only black candidate in the eight-person field, spoke of civil rights leaders who fought for Brown v. Board of Education and other precedents curbed by the High Court. "If it were not for them," he said, "I would not be standing here."

The 90-minute debate was the third gathering of the Democratic hopefuls in a presidential campaign that has gotten off to an unusually early start. While the first two debates focused on their narrow differences on Iraq, moderator Tavis Smiley promised to steer the candidates to other issues that matter to black America, including health care, education, criminal justice, police accountability, housing and voting rights.

The debate was conducted at Howard University, a historically black school in the nation's capital.

Black voters are a large and critical part of the Democratic primary electorate, making the debate a must-attend for candidates seeking the party's presidential nomination. Civil rights activist Al Sharpton and Princeton University scholar Cornel West were among those in the audience.

Another Dem shill article from AP; subtext: conservatives are racists. Yaay! The Democrats are the party of tolerance, understanding and light.

Sometimes the clock needs to be turned back - on events that never should have happened. Like Roe V. Wade. things of that nature. Yep. I enjoy turning the clock back on these kinds of things.

Felt so damn great turning that old clock back, let’s do it on some more bad liberal things....

Keep on turning it back!!!

I should have included this in my excerpt:

"This issue of poverty is the cause of my life," said John Edwards, the 2004 vice presidential nominee.

What a joke.

"If it were not for them," he said, "I would not be standing here."

the point is, he and everyone else can now stand wherever they want - and that is good. However, it's time for all reverse discrimination cr*p to stop - The opportunities are there, the doors are open and those with a little gumption are standing on their own two feet - now it's time for them to listen to Dr. Cosby.

It's also a shame that more folk couldn't follow the example of Asian families - ( and the 'more' includes a lot of white folk) and pull together, working hard and supporting one another to 'make it'

If Edwards cared about poverty...why would he live so lavishly and force others to pay for his ideals?

The hypocrisy!?

If the man lived in two room house and actually used his money to create programs of change...then and only then could he say he was a man whom lives by those words.

Funny how they couldn't find anybody to quote who supported the ruling.

Funny how they couldn't even quote any of the court's reasoning.

The funniest thing I heard was when Reid said “This is clearly Judicial Activsim.”

How clueless can people get?

"If it were not for them," he said, "I would not be standing here."

He's right. Whoever was rejected for being Asian or White would "be there" instead right now.

"If it were not for them," he said, "I would not be standing here."

This child of privilege attended arguably the best private school in Hawaii and that wasn't because of any set asides or affirmative action, it was because of money.

The only "them" that makes sense as a referent in Obama's statement above is US One Hundred Dollar Bills.

“This is clearly Judicial Activsim.”
:::::
This is comincal and grossly and typically LIBERAL HYPOCRISY. These scumbags are the worst at using judicial fiat to install socialism and all-powerful controlling socialist government -— ala the decision by the SCOTUS that stomped on the Fifth Amendment and private property ownership rights.

Hypocritical scumbag.

Amazing, every time the Supreme Court gets around to reminding everybody that it's manifestly unconstitutional to assign school children to various schools on the basis of race, you find the Democrats up in arms ready to do battle against the Court.

I am absolutely dumbfound this time. You'd think they'd learn by now, particularly since we whipped their butts over slavery.
