Britain's terror crackdown

Cars were banned from approaching airport terminals last night as unprecedented security measures were enforced to combat a suspected al-Qa'eda bombing campaign.

The terrorist threat level was at "critical" - its highest - after two car bombs were found in London and a third, potentially devastating, attack was narrowly averted at Glasgow airport.

An armed police officer prevents vehicles from approaching too close to Heathrow

It has forced police and the Government to take the draconian step of closing off all forecourts at airports. Passengers cannot be picked up or dropped off and must instead be directed to outlying car parks and bussed in.

Last night five people were in custody as it emerged that:

• The same two men may have been responsible for the Glasgow and the London bomb attempts;

• Police were on the trail of the suspected bombers before the airport attack and narrowly missed tracking them down;

•Doctors and a woman are in custody;

• Police are still hunting at least one suspect;

• Experts revealed the attack on Glasgow airport aimed to kill and maim hundreds in a massive fireball;

• Gordon Brown raised the prospect of detaining suspects without charge for more than 28 days and allowing the use of phone-tap evidence in court.

The Daily Telegraph has learnt that the same two men may have been responsible for all three car bombs.

Anti-terrorism police are confident they have the key men involved in custody - one of them suffering from 90 per cent burns after smashing a Jeep, packed with petrol and gas canisters, into the terminal at Glasgow.

Yet another installment in the price to be paid for “accomodating” Islam in our midst. Now the Brits cannot even drive to their damn airports. How many more disruptions of our lives are we supposed to accept in order to enjoy the blessings of a “diversity” that allows those who want to destroy us to live within our societies? Air travel has been made intolerable, our previously open to the public buildings are armed fortresses, using public transportation is taking your life in your hands and fertilizer and propane are on their way to being banned or controlled substances. I could go on, but you get the idea.

This isn't such a bad idea. Without all the car traffic in front of the terminal, the buses could be very efficient.

“one of them suffering from 90 per cent burns”

This is the guy who covered with fire yelled, “Allah!” while trying to punch police.

Reminds me of WWII Flame Throwers. A handy weapon that ever the most fanatic enemy comes to understand.

The poor guys carrying those things didn't last long. Their gas cylinders were the first thing targeted in a battle.

I didn’t know that. Maybe that is why the flame throwers were some times mounted on tanks?

Still it is ironic to compare what we did in WWII to defeat the enemy compared to today. I wonder what the media would do if our guys were using flame throwers in Iraq today?
