The blog Fred Thompson-N-Mo points out the fact that FDT is now a former commentator for ABC Radio. Thats right, ABC News now speaks of the Fred Thompson Report in the past tense:
THE FRED THOMPSON REPORT: ARCHIVES
The Fred Thompson Report contained the commentaries and opinions of Fred Dalton Thompson. Mr. Thompson is a former Republican senator from Tennessee, and former ABC News Radio contributor.
Fred Thompsons commentaries included his views
Given the fact that a presidential candidate really couldnt continue such a commentary due to equal-time constraints, I wonder what Sen. Thompson might be up to

He has to be an “ex-commentator” or they have to provide each of his fellow candidates with the same public access that he has.
To: Anitius Severinus Boethius
He also has better things to do.

Fred used to fill in for Paul Harvey, he did a good job at filling in and the MSM is trying to be “fair” so when Hilliary releses a cookie recipe next year, they will give Fred equal time...

THE FRED THOMPSON REPORT - ARCHIVES (He must be running!) And the point is: It means - many have been on Freds case telling him to make up his mind and run or not. However, many like me believe he made up his mind a while ago, to run, but that his many contractual obligations, in conjunction with equal access concerns have prevented him from announcing before this month. The fact that he is now a former ABC Radio commentator means he is giving up this probably well-paying gig to do something else...

So what happened to his big announcement yesterday? I can understand what he's doing but I'm getting a bit grumpy about all this hemmin and hawin at this stage too. And I've been a big Fred supporter from the moment I heard his name mentioned.

A more accurate title would be “The Fred Thompson formerly known as an ABC Commentator”
To: HeartlandOfAmerica
As soon as it was
reported rumored that he would announce on July 4, his team came out and quashed it.
He is getting his business affairs in order for his announcement...
Fulfilling his L&O contract
Ending his ABC Radio contract
Airing any picture obligations (US Grant movie)
Waiting until the other candidates have reported their contributions as required by FEC regulations.
Allowing enough time to pass so when he announces his official candidacy (and converts his "test-the-waters" funds to campaign cash) any money raised will be seen as independent of their quarterly report and stand on its own as startup money.
Last report rumor I heard was he would announce around July 15th.

I don’t want to hear crap like NBC can’t run L&O episodes with him in it. I was in L.A. three days before the Gov. election which brought us Arnold, and they were showing “Total Recall” on ABC, “Kindergarten Cop” on ABC Family, and “Terminator 2” on cable...on the same night! The RATS cried about it of course, but no one pulled anything.
To: The Blitherer
Since Fred hasn't declared his candidacy he should not have been let go due to equal time constraints.
Maybe Fred just up and quit figuring that the minute he does officially announce can no longer be an ABC commentator.

no problem - just support me for Freds Ambassador to Fiji and all will be forgiven I'd like to be appointed head of the BATFE. I can promise that I'll contribute a lot toward reducing the deficit by working toward making it the BATE.
OK, no jokes about what my position would be THEN.
To: stm
Brit Hume use to work for ABC too, whats their friggin point? LOL - I'd vote for Brit in a heartbeat, but I don't think he'd ever run - like Rush he can't afford the pay cut ;-)
To: Ancesthntr
Oh yeah?
Well, I’m running against you, and I will make it the BAT!
No, wait. The BT!
No, wait...
