Genital and other mutilation, beatings, isolation without sunlight, child and forced marriages, torture, murder, no education, no rights and, sadly, much more is the way of life for many women living under Islam. FSM Contributing Editor Adrian Morgan asks if there is any point in “negotiating” with those who harbor such belief systems.
The one thing about these people is that if they don’t start standing up for their rights as humans, nothing we can do will help them. We have tried and given our money and blood, but if they don’t pick up the reins and run with it, we can’t and shouldn’t try and force them into it. Education is the key and if they can’t learn, not much we can do about it. As it stands now, all they understand is force.
