May it never happen again. In fact - God, please protect these little ones by waking up the parents or at least bringing people by to break the windows and rescue them if this ever happens again.

Ah, yes, I seem to remember vague details of that. What the heck is this world coming to?

Tarring and feathering should be brought back!

The Grocery Outlet! Our prices are so low, you’ll forget all about having children! Leave that kid in the car so you’ll have room in the cart to stock up!

At one point I had 5 kids, and the oldest was 8. My baby was probably about 5 or 6 months old, but wasn’t sleeping through the night because I was nursing. I was exhausted, mentally and physically. My husband had taken the older children to preschool/school, and I was to take the little guy to the babysitter on my way to work. The babysitter lived a block away, and I was working about an hour from home. When I got to work, I got out of the car, and just before I shut the door, I heard “ga”. I realized that I had forgotten to drop him at the sitter and taken him all the way to work. Scared the s**t out of me. So, on one level I can understand how a mom, who is sleep deprived can make some pretty stupid mistakes. It doesn’t excuse what happened. Through only the grace of God, have I not done the same thing. Thank God that this infant was also ok.

Having said that, any decent-sized rock or piece of metal will do the trick.

$10.00 could save some random baby's life from his or her stupid mother

Remember, this is Seattle.

Nope, it's Spokane. They're on opposite sides of the state (about 250 miles apart), and they're completely different in terms of political pursuasion. Seattle is as liberal as Hollywood. Spokane is as conservative as a small midwestern town.

He did, but it was after the state intervened to terminate his parental rights. In addition to amnesia, this guy had a lot of problems, but not, IMHO, enough to warrant cutting him off from his kids.

She knew she had a baby — she was probably using the carrier for shoplifting.

Excellant catch. Or maybe she decided to abort in a way that she could play dumb while garnering sympathy from the idiotic public. You know, the "she will have to live whith this the rest of her life" crowd.

[She should be shot. How do you forget you have a baby?]

Well.....at the risk of being drummed off this board, I’m admitting that I actually forgot my newborn firstborn in the car when I went out for my first grocery shopping trip after his birth.

I’m not permanently stupid, a dumb bitch, or more concerned with buying a new outfit than with my son, and I’m glad that my husband didn’t shoot me when I later told him what I had done.

I was sleep-deprived and he had fallen asleep (the only time he had slept in about 7 hours) in the car seat in the back of the car. I was trying hard to find my shopping list at the bottom of my purse, trying to locate my coupons, and remember the things I needed that weren’t on my list.

I am a creature of habit, and I had never taken a baby to the store with me in my life. I got out of the car (baby still sleeping) walked to the front door of the store, and suddenly remembered my baby in the back seat. I ran screaming to the car, pulled him out and cried for about ten minutes at the thought of what I had done.

I never did it again. I have three children who are all in their late teens. Every time I hear of someone leaving their child in the car, my heart skips a beat as I remember what could have been a fateful day.

her shopping cart was full of items and the woman had an empty baby carrier with her in the store.

An empty baby carrier??????? And she didn’t remember that she had a child in the SUV?????? Why oh why is this woman part of our society?

Why did she have an empty baby carrier in the store???? One would think that would be quite a good reminder.

I broke out the window on a car from the outside with my forearm with no injury. It isn’t that hard. It’s doing it from within the car that’s hard, mainly because of the limited room to swing.

Your forearm must have a better swing than my 3-iron.

Contrary to the opinion of most metrosexuals, you can do it if you need to.

It isn’t only my 25+ years of training in the martial arts that has enabled me to do this. Most men can do it if they have to. Punching your fist through a windshield is another story, because it has the plastic binder between to two layers of glass, and that plastic is flexible and strong. The side windows are not as difficult. But that’s why I also added the alternative, kicking it out.
