The whole hoopla it’s about the breakdown of the aspartame upon ingestion and specifically so into phenylalanine, formaldehyde and methanol. Common sense should tell anyone (without the need of research) that knowingly exposing your body to them it’s reckless. Unless you are diabetic, lay off artificial sweetener, forget about soda (diet or regular) and drink water. What happened to the times when a Coke was just a treat? I am always stunned when I see parents buying juice drinks or sweetened, artificially colored water masquerading as juice and thinking they are doing the kids good. And we wonder why we lead the world in obesity... Oh, the false sense of security by ordering an extra large Diet Coke at McDonalds along with a tub of French fries. Why bother?

More formaldehyde is produced drinking water than diet soda.

Diet drinks have been a Weight Watchers freebie for decades. Their diets still slim people down.

Well...I do drink my diet cherry pepsi with my favorite 100 calorie balance bar (a pria bar will do as well)

OK...I admit it.
I’m hooked.

Will this article cause me to change my ways?

oooh....I don’t know.

Yeah i used to work at mcD’s when i was younger. It was really quite amusing when a person would order a double quarter pounder with cheese and fries, supersized, but with a diet coke? Geez, your already ingesting like 1500 calories, you may as well go for the real coke. Too funny.

I bought a chocolate milkshake at a Ben and Jerry’s (for my special chocolate milkshake diet). The girl asked if I wanted skim or whole milk.

“Unless you are diabetic, lay off artificial sweetener...”

All “artificial sweeteners” are bad for everyone. If diabetics want sweet w/o sugar, stevia should be used.

Diet cola’s promote obesity. Many studies show this. And the level of consumption for those kids and adults adicted to diet soft drinks generally exceed the level of consumption used by the scientists in this study.
