George Noory plans a tribute to Art Bell on the occasion of Art's latest "retirement." George threatens a "tribute song." If we're lucky, they'll replay Art's encounter with Super Glue -- still one of the best live moments in the history of broadcasting. Please, everyone, chime in with your Art Memories.
Ping!
Well I have many favorite Art Bell moments, but I think my favorite was when he interviewed Father Malachi Martin about perfect possession. I also liked it when people called in about shadow people.
He retires more than Michael Jordan and Roger Clemens combined.
Mel’s Hole ... hilarious!!!
But not Barbra.
Suuure.....
I have to respect him for rejecting 9-11 conspiracies. Much of his audience turned against him for that.
Oh yeah! Good call!
Wonder what happened to Mel?
Art was the best host though and got us home safely/awake from late night road trips with his guests/topics of the past.
It was fun to watch the Internet battle that happened between two of his former guests. One was the guy who sold the tapes to teach everyone how to see across the world as part of what he claimed was a spec. ops tool and the other fellow that went to battle with him on the net was claiming to hide out from someone wanting to kill him and his family for exposing something (can’t remember) and he would call Art from his secret living areas.
Then the two men attacked each other viscously on there inter net web site forum along with the fans chiming in.
A true popcorn time, reading those posts.
Father Malachi was absolutely riveting. I don’t believe the conspiracy theories about the heirarchy having him killed, but he sure seemed to be talking from firsthand knowledge ...
I've heard him refer moonbats to the classic Popular Mechanics article on 9/11. Still the very best source.
The call where he had some guy calling into the show claiming he was flying over Area 51 and said he was being shot at was pretty good too. Never did find out what happened to that guy. ;-)
I'm more of an Ian Punnett kinda gal, though.
Made you wonder if those folks were actually seeing in different dimensions or were chemically imbalanced just enough that they were imagining there were shadow people.
Good topic.
Art is retiring?
I actually thought Art had died last year.
Well, *Happy Retirement* Art! :)
Punnett’s pretty cool. He, not George, should be the full-time host, methinks.
Oh... what about the time he had two guys debating about whether we really landed on the moon.... do you remember who they were?
Actually, Art just had a kid with his new wife. Hence the retirement to spend “more time with the family.” This time, he said he’d be back, though.
I don’t! but I vaguely remember the show. Art was, as usual when beset with moonbats, very tongue-in-cheek funny.
Punnett is truly omniscient (because he pays intense attention to those who are really, truly omniscient).
