Churchill Not Relevant Enough by: Don Irvine, July 18, 2007
Sir Winston Churchill may have been voted the best Briton ever, but if a national curriculum proposal is approved the former Prime Minister will be relegated to the dust bin of history as he will be removed from a list of figures that secondary school children must learn about in Great Britain.
In a move to bring the national curriculum into the 21st century Churchill will no longer be taught and will be replaced with the more relevant topics of as drug and alcohol abuse, climate change (global warming) and genetically modified foods.
This move has angered many in the U.K. including Churchill's grandson Tory MP Nicholas Soames who called the proposal "total madness."
That sentiment was echoed by schools secretary Ed Balls who said that "Churchill should be taught to all pupils and I shall be taking steps to ensure it is."
Good for secretary Balls, but short of a massive public outcry he may be facing an uphill battle.
Churchill once said that "History will be written by the victors." He was right, but he never imagined that the victors would be politically correct educators within his own country that are rewriting it and erasing his legacy.

This fits the general trend: do not revere great statesmen of the past except to the extent they spoke out against racism or advocated socialism.
Without the Churchill family there would be no England.
English bureaucrats should just go ahead and implement their Complete Dhimmitude Program and replace Churchill w/ a picture of the Bomb-turban-MoHAMmed.
Considering his actions before WWII and his involvement in WWI (not to mention his involvement in laying the groundwork for the welfare state currently in the UK) because of Churchill, England (and the rest of the UK) have gone a track much different than they could have.
This should be no surprise. It makes perfect sense that a nation waving the surrender flag would not be interested in former citizens who would have instead yelled, “charge!”
Nothing like not teaching them about one of the reasons they’re still their own country. Pretty soon they’ll cease teaching about WWI.

Today’s socialism in the UK is laid at the feet of Winston Churchill? It is true that England suffered bombings in WWII, and the country needed help to heal post war, but into whose hands did the country fall after that? One way Satan steals ambition, patriotism and hope is to remove all heroes. It happens in our own country for the same reasons by the same entity.
It’s really bizarre to me, but my impression is that in spite of the polls you see, Churchill was never really appreciated in Great Britain the way he should have been. He basically got booted out of office after the war was over.
Along with entry of the US into WWI after he became Lord of the Admiralty. As Lord of the Admiralty it can not be dismissed that Churchill, while perhaps not complicit, knew full well of the impending fate of the Lusitania and what dead Americans could mean for the British cause.

All this “history” stuff... it’s all just so old and out of date.
“There is no England now” — gets truer every day, especially if they trash their own best selves in the history books (and that was Dave Davies who wrote that, btw, to give the little brother his due.)
How could Churchill be the one who laid the groundwork for the welfare state when they booted him out of office right after the war?
Duh, how dumb of me to not remember that was Dave.
That was his one song that could rival anything Ray ever wrote.
