But what do I know? Nothing. None of us can. If these are honeypots to catch terrorists, we'd never know because DHS/FBI/CIA would never state they're running honeypots publicly. And if they're just sites that our government is so incompetent (think FEMA/Katrina) that they can't shut them down themselves, we'd never know that either. So shutting them down is probably a Good Thing.
If they keep forum backups and run virtual servers, they'll be back up in three days or less on new servers. This makes me think of that anonymizing proxy service which was started by and used by CIA operatives around the world to hide their communications from being monitored. They appeared to be a commercial service (and even made some money) but they were actually an intel asset on the internet, hidden in plain sight.
Oh, well, it can do little harm to shut them down or at least force them offshore. I can't seem to find anything terrorist there 'cause the good stuff seems to all be in Arabic. That one does have an English section and it looks like repulsive terrorist sympathizer material to me.
