The entire Colorado tax structure and its effect on business solvency and growth will be the subject of a forum to be held in Denver ... Aug. 13.

Hosted by the National Federation of Independent Business/Colorado, the leading representative group in America for the biggest job generators - small businesses ...

The forum is open to all Colorado small-business owners.

A panel of guests includes House Speaker Andrew Romanoff and ...

"Colorado tax structure is the creation of three often competing entities - citizen initiatives, special interests and the Legislature," Gagliardi said.

"This has led to the current crazy quilt we have in the form of the 25-year-old Gallagher Amendment, the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, Referendum C, Amendment 23, and a host of other limitations such as the Business Personal Property Tax.

What the forum seeks is to put all these on the table and discuss if they are leading the state down a path of economic paralysis."

I hope they conclude that it is strangling the Colorado economy and a clean slate is needed. Something like scrapping all income and property taxes and expanding their Sales tax to 8% on all goods and services with no exceptions for food, medicine, etc.

8% would be enough to replace the other taxes in Colorado, while attracting people and businesses by eliminating the income and property taxes. And 8% is low enough to not be worth shopping across borders very much.

Changing the way you see things can also change your reality. You can create your own rules for changing your reality.
