Giuliani Packs Staff With Middle East 'Hawks'

Presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani is packing his campaign staff with Middle East Hawks – including one who urges a U.S. military strike on Iran.

Giuliani recently announced he had assembled a "team of foreign policy advisers featuring several prominent neoconservatives, including one of the movement’s founders, Norman Podhoretz,” the Jewish publication Forward reported.

Giuliani’s advisory panel also includes several figures with experience in Israeli affairs, Forward noted. His chief foreign policy adviser is Charles Hill, who once served as political counselor to the American Embassy in Tel Aviv.

On the panel as well is Martin Kramer, an expert on Islam at Harvard University and a fellow with the Jerusalem-based Shalem Center.

Ben Chouake, head of the pro-Israel political action committee Norpac, said Giuliani’s selection of these advisors shows he is "very serious about his approach to ensuring the security and safety of Israel.”

Giuliani is still looking strong despite the MSM attempts to rattle the base with constant "too liberal" hype...

Well then maybe if Rudy is elected President he will fight to win in Iraq instead of the current politically correct (we don’t want to make allies mad) b.s. war.

Yeah, he’d need about another 40 or 50 advisers and experts to consult to match Hunter’s knowledge of foreign affairs. And they’d still come up short in the hawkish dept.

Not to mention the same attempts by those in leadership at FR.

Giuliani is too liberal for me, but on the WOT question and the Middle East, he is RIGHT ON, and I’ll give credit where it is due.

Ben Chouake is a huge Hillary supporter.

http://www.norpac.net/media/inthenews/article_disp.php?ID=83

“”A lot of the candidates are good,” said Ben Chouake, a New Jersey doctor who heads NORPAC, a pro-Israel political action committee that brought 700 activists to Washington in early May to lobby for Israel. “But I hope the strongest people on our issue win — and among Democrats, Hillary Clinton has the strongest record on our issue.”

Of course from the look of the success the Surge is having, Iraq will be a non-issue by 2008.
Which is why the Democrats are so desperate to kill the surge prematurely.

Only by comparison to the abject weakness by all the others.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve had it with politicians who appeal to the conservatives strongly on some issues, but keep hidden their motives on others. Giuliani may be saying everything I want to hear about the terrorist threat, but there’s more to it than that.

I have a big problem with Giuliani (senior partner of Bracewell Giuliani law firm) and his involvement with the Trans Texas Corridor. Do some research and you will find out about the eminent domain abuse going on in Texas, and the fact that Giuliani’s law firm is representing the Spanish company who will be building, operating, and has been given the lease on the land of this super highway.

Advocating teh option of a militarty strike on Iran should not even be controversial. We see reports every day that Iran is killing our troops in a variety of ways. When did that become acceptable?

I would rather have a social liberal (or libertarian) like Giuliani as President than a social conservative who fights the war against Islamofascism with one hand tied behand his back.

Pre-9/11 I would not have supported Giuliani. Now I would vote for him as President in a heartbeat — and certainly ahead of Fred Thompson, who has picked Spencer Abraham, the water carrier for CAIR, as one of his closest lieutenants.
