Putin aide: 'Miliband's hatred for Russia runs in family'
dailymail.co.uk ^ | 4th August 2007 | JASON LEWIS

A key adviser to President Vladimir Putin accused Foreign Secretary David Miliband of 'anti-Russian racism' over his handling of the Alexander Litvinenko affair.

It was claimed Mr Miliband let his personal views cloud his judgment in the recent tit-for-tat diplomat expulsion row over the murder of ex-KGB operative Litvinenko.

Last month the Foreign Secretary expelled Russian diplomats from Britain after the Kremlin refused to sanction the extradition of the prime suspect in the murder case.

President Putin responded by throwing out several British Embassy officials and banning visas for other UK diplomats.

Now Russian political analyst Gleb Pavlovsky, who is close to the Russian President, has claimed Mr Miliband inherited anti-Russian sentiments from his family.

The comments were last night being viewed as a sign of Moscow's bitterness towards Britain over the Litvinenko affair and the UK Government's refusal to extradite tycoon Boris Berezovsky to Moscow.

The attack came in Russian nationalist newspaper Tvoi Den. Mr Pavlovsky said: "David Miliband's hatred for Russia was inherited from his grandfather."

The newspaper said that in the Twenties the Foreign Secretary's grandfather, Samuel, then Shimon, Miliband, a native of the Jewish ghetto in Warsaw, had fought under the command of Trotsky 'eliminating' white Russians opposed to Communism.

He later came to England with his son Ralph, who became a Marxist academic, and whose sons David and Ed now serve in the Cabinet.

"David absorbed anti-Sovietism, as the saying goes, with his mother's milk," said Mr Pavlovsky.

On May 22, 2007, British officials charged Andrei Lugovoi, a former KGB official, with Litvinenko's murder, announcing they would seek his extradition from Russia.

But a Russian official stated it was against the Russian constitution to perform extraditions of its citizens. Lugovoi denies any involvement.

If Miliband hates Russians because his grandfather was a communist, then what does that say about Vladimir Putin, who dedicated his entire life enslaving his own Russian people to Soviet Communism as a loyal KGB thug?

Putin's loyalty to the EVIL EMPIRE that exterminated his own people never swerved. He never betrayed the communist cause and he considers those who did to be traitors even to this day! Traitors to what? The Soviet Communism he still believes in?!

Why does Putin refuse to remove the hideous corpse of Vladimir "Lenin" Ulyanov from Red Square? Why did he personally intervene to prevent the removal of the Hammer and Sickle from the ceremonial Russian flag? Why does he glorify Lenin's "Cheka," the forerunner of the KGB?

Vladimir Putin's father was a Soviet NKVD agent. If anyone was suckled on hatred for the Russian people, it is the Chekist Putin himself, the true traitor to his own.

Gleb Pavlovsky’s comments make no sense. Based on ancestry, Miliband if anything would be pro-Soviet, not anti-Soviet.

Someone’s already drunk his entire vodka ration for the nest week.

Vlad, you might want to send this guy to the clinic to dry out.

You don't know much about Anatoly Sobchak, do you?

What's your beef with Russia, 'phobe?

Are you one of these Eastern European offspring with an axe to grind? The Scots Regiments said the Soviets did the most to win WWII. I am of Scots heritage. Who the Hell are you to be badmouthing the Russians with every bit of yellow journalism you can put your hands on?

It is the usual story. During Civil war 1917-22 may international commies had anti-Russian hatred just because teh Russians fought against them.

It’s no secret that post-Versailles, Germany had a tough time finding ways and means to get their economy up and running again. It’s widely accepted that Versailles was a dumb treaty
which led to WWII.

Did you think Russia is communist? If so, your posting credibility is at stake here.

“Did you think Russia is communist?”

The Russian government was communist. The problem is that there are still plenty of communists left over from the Soviet days.

‘I am of Scots heritage’

De ye belong tae Glasgow ?

You must visit Scotland . I had som fantastic holidays there in my youth.

Regarding the present British - Russian barney, there is another factor that the media over here seldom mentions.
Since the late 1990s the Labour Govt granted asylum to several Chechian ‘separatists’, one is Ahmed Dasuev, can’t remember the others. These induviduals are nasty baskets who are believed to have tortured and beheaded civilians suspected of siding with Russia. They are championed by Amnesty International and the way many actors and writers speak about them, you would think that a messiah has arrived here ! The BBC consistently describes the ‘Russian occupation ‘of Chechnia and one correspondent compared the Chechian terrorists with the French Resistance in WW2.
Understandably the Russians are hacked off about this, the UK is supposed to be fighting a war against international terrorism yet we are sheltering these creatures.
As I understand it, this may be at the root of Moscow’s present attitude.
Where is Chechnia anyway ? Is it true that they are of the Moslem loony faith ?

Thanks for the post. I hope a lot of people read this, mindful of the fact that print attacks on the Russian Federation in the US on account of Chechnya have all but dried up. It would be useful for Americans wanting to know where they get the best advice on Russia policy to revisit writing done over the period before international terrorist groups operating there were named by the US State Dept and the British foreign office. I would not be taking Russia-policy opinion and advice from those Americans. There are some familiar US political names among them who ought now to be thoroughly discredited on pretty well anything they say about Russia.

I want to revisit other elements of your post but for now, this has to be it.

Still, this does not explain the fact of war being started by TWO totalitarian regimes.

I guess I’m one of these Eastern European offspring with an axe to grind which does not believe in a ways of war.
I also do not believe in pure intentions of communist helping topple Nazis. Freeing people from concentration camps?
Not really, just placing them elsewhere with changed names.

It’s none of your damn business who I am, Putinista. All you need to know is that I’m an American, unlike yourself.

They’re trying to say that the Bolsheviks were all jews who hated Russians. They excuse Putin’s own Bolshevism, though, as well as his continued adulation of the EVIL EMPIRE. Putin has not even shown the slightest regret for his unswerving loyalty to bolshevism. He considers those who betrayed the Bolshevik evil as traitors to Russia itself. Clearly the two things are one and the same in Putin’s diseased mind.
