I think you meant to say there will be an asterisk next to Henry Aaron’s name as the all-time home run king. It should say something to the effect that *during the 1990s and 2000s a number of players amassed unprecedented totals of homeruns due to shortened fences, steriod use, and mechanical devices used to improved hitting strokes. These meaningless totals are disregarded by the serious fan of Americas Game.

Weren't eight games added to the season that Hank Aaron played (used to be 154, but changed to 162, or was it 168, when the league was expanded)?

Hank played the first seven years of his career under the 154 game format and only played more than 154 games a few times. Ruth of course started out as a pitcher so played far fewer games than aaron or bonds.
